Update 1.8.0 (www.reachthefinals.com)

I think the big thing is another nerf to nukes:

Gravity and physics have been enabled on Red Canisters with attachments

Valentine's Day special event is nice, get to grab more cosmetics.

CPU/RAM/Disk/Network etc. get written to Influxdb via Telegraf, and visualized with Grafana.

This is my exact setup and I love it (especially in comparison to the prometheus stack which I have to use at work). telegraf is so easy to use and extend. I have my own custom metrics for things like speed of my home internet connection (runs speedtests every hour), listener counts on my custom/private internet radio stream, or even fetching the daily food trucks rotation at a nearby lunch site (influx can handle text data!)

I don't do anything for logging but I also like UptimeKuma to keep and eye on things I run. Grafana has alerting but I find it pretty horrible.

I played through the 12 games required to get all the unlocks and it was pretty hilarious. There was something stupid funny about having half a dozen heavies converge at a location and blow up the hell out of each other with nukes, RPGs, and charge-and-slams.

That said, I have played my fair share of heavy and the load out was almost identical to my usual, except for charge-and-slam, so it didn't feel awkward. I'm also likely not to play much more as like you, I don't like like Bank It as much as Cashout, and I've only played it for warm up or to test/practice new builds.

If any of you are playing - more cosmetics is always fun for mixing and matching into your perfect outfit/loadout!

Getting rid of solo bank it for now, replacing it with another event where everyone has the same loadout. Sounds interesting though if you don't like heavy, then it might be your thing.

Biggest news, though, is the nerfing of Recon Senses - shorter range, and detected enemies are informed (like the sonar grenade). Seems reasonable to me.

Hey, it's free, I'll take it.

Update 1.5.5 (www.reachthefinals.com)

Not thrilled about the FCAR nerf.

Patch Notes 1.5 (www.reachthefinals.com)

Welcome to Update 1.5

Today we are introducing our very first limited-time mode (LTM): Solo Bank It!

This experimental twist on Bank It pits contestants against each other in a fight for individual glory in a 12-player arena. Just like Bank It, the first to amass 40,000 and deposit in the cash-out station wins. Solo queuers, rejoice!

We’re putting this mode out there to learn more about your experience, so we’ll open a channel in Discord to gather feedback for as long as the mode stays up.

Outside the new mode, Update 1.5.0 comes with a litany of balance changes, tweaks, and bug fixes — all laid out below — to help improve the overall experience.

In addition, with Update 1.5.0 we’re introducing our fair play guidelines, with revamped and improved detection methods for unfair play. From now on, we’ll restrict cheaters with more confidence and will be able to stand firmly behind our bans. Our goal, as always, is to make the game safe, fair, and fun

Finally, we’ve decided to expand the size of our store, with an even bigger and more diverse range of items at any given time.

Looking forward to checking out Solo Bank It!

The idea came to me yesterday when I got killed by one that I saw the enemy drop. It was dumb of me, I should've avoided it but I was in hot pursuit.

Unlike mines/C4 which arguably are stuck via adhesive, it seems like a frag grenade should be something you can pick up (or even catch) and re-throw, especially given the long cook time. I haven't tried it in game though. Does it work? Would it be cool if it did?

Anyone else experience general server/matchmaking flakiness yesterday (Mon, Jan 15)? I got "matchmaking failed" errors numerous times, something I'd never seen before, and the majority of the matches started with players missing (the worst was one match that started with just me and one other player, on a different team). Higher frequency of player disconnects during the game too.

This was on PS5, no cross-play, North America region.

The Finals?

It's f2p, and I usually shy away from f2p games myself, but it's done a great job of keeping it strictly about cosmetics if you are concerned about pay-to-win. Its team-based objectives an environment destruction are really fresh, in my opinion, and I'm enjoying a competitive FPS for the first time since Apex dropped. FWIW, I was also a huge fan of Titanfall 2 when online was active.

It's not for you if you if you want low TTK and 40 different guns to choose from while you run around deathmatching (ie you want COD style gameplay), though.

I just play casual "quick play" and matchmaking is almost always under 30 seconds.

Same here, never spent money on f2p games before, but after playing the beta, this game really clicked with me and I wanted to show Embark my support.

I've been playing nothing but The Finals since it dropped. Dunno if I should be embarrassed to admit this but I've already completed the battle pass. I solo queue (anyone wanna party up???) and just play casual quick play and it's still an absolute blast. Ranked sounds too sweaty for me.

What the heck is a "frog-type" game??

Also, Cibo Matto's "Sugar Water" is a technical masterpiece.

I usually refrain from decrying omissions from lists such as this... but how is "Smack My Bitch Up" not only not #1, but not even on the list at all?!?

[–] hellfroze@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

In the video it's stated it can be on any wifi network. Since he was sitting at PlayStation HQ, getting official info directly from Sony, I'm gonna go with what he said.

Marathon. Not the extraction shooter that Bungie recently announced, but a remake of the original with a modern graphics engine.

Watching this made me realize just how much my memories and experience with Patapon are tied to playing it on a handheld. Sad this won't be something I can fire up on a Vita but I'm still looking forward to it! FEVER!!!
