I never called you antisemitic, I don't conflate opinions on Israel or Zionism with people's Jewish identity. There are many anti-Israel and anti-Zionist Jews.

That's giving the algorithms too much credit. They don't encode user desires they encode user engagement bait. Like everything under our capitalist system the motivation is profit: in this case ad revenue. Sometimes positive things or agreeable things drive engagement, sometimes negative or divisive things. As long as users spend time scrolling on the platform they'll both be given equal weight.

As with anything profit motive driven it's just about what makes more money not what makes more sense or what makes better outcomes. The core assumption of capitalism (at least how it's sold) is that profit causing activity correlates with improvements to human well-being. How anyone still believes that, I'm not sure.

This is consistent with your fascist mindset at least, and it's the exact attitude that led to interment camps. Congratulations.

I can't find sources verifying the claim but I remember that contemporary to the election the PBO assessed the NDP budget as being the closest to balanced between the major parties (based in part on that wealth tax).

The capital gains exclusion amount right now is 50% (which means that $1000 in capital gains is taxed like $500 in income) and the NDP platform would have taken that to 25% meaning it would be treated like $750 in income. You might be asking why working for your money means it's taxed higher than investing for your money but that's a bigger conversation.

As for UBI, it hasn't been a part of their official platform in previous elections that I recall, but NDP members have expressed support and laid out plans for it and it's far more likely to be tried and executed under NDP governments than Conservative and Liberal, though Liberals have run trials at the provincial level (though sabotaged by the cons as soon as they took power of course).

Next year will present an opportunity for a new platform but I expect many of these things to remain on it. I encourage you to look into all of the party platforms at that time. I occasionally check in on them off season as well, for example to find out what Conservatives are proposing for after they "axe the tax" (spoiler: nothing), but haven't looked at the NDP recently.

Yes the acquiescence of all editorial and publishing decisions by these tech companies to "the algorithm" (which somehow absolves them of responsibility) is the main culprit there.

These platforms are more like radio infrastructure or TV infrastructure than any particular channel, and for the most part anything they specifically promote and fund doesn't tend to be that alt right content which is completely algorithm driven and ad/sponsor/dark money supported.

We need to employ nuance when discussing these platforms.

There are tons of highly educational YouTube channels, and traditional media has completely abandoned that kind of content. The average YouTube video has more educational content than "The Learning Channel." And you are more likely to get accurate information about history than "The History Channel"
