I told someone about uBlock as they were getting ads left and right, and I was told "oh no, I don't wanna install anything!"

So if it's not extremely frictionless, many people won't even try...

There are already many! The problem is they lack polish, to varying degrees.

I would never use it, but I don’t think it’s a bad idea. On the other other hand, I think most people would be confused if they had to use multiple app stores with some apps being exclusive to one of them.

So, this mostly seems like a way to promote adware apps, like those silly casual games that all look the same.

They think having downstream distros that repackage their software without adding anything is useless, and they want more customers. I get it, but meh.

Also, it doesn’t help that they communicated it poorly making it sound worse than it actually is.
