Debian, add Mint, Backbox, Opencpn, Navigatrix, Marinux, Mozilla, Kismet and several other depots. It's a monster at the end and I have to pay attention when updating and booting, but it gets all the jobs done for me all of the times.

A hacker group in Seattle (GHI) years ago attempted to build secure systems on top of compromised hardware. Although different levels of security could be achieved, the overall outcome was No. You cannot build a fully secured system on top of compromised hardware.

A VPS for this exercise counts as 'compromised' hardware.

I cannot believe anyone traveling with a former president, even that one, would have such a lack in upbringing, such absolute lack of grace, that they would think it's ok to be this classless in public. I don't even need to go into the racism.

Have you perused Distro Watch?

Lots of good info & news, and info on just about every distro there is, stuff you've never heard of. Years and years ago this was my introduction to FreeNAS that made a huge difference in my life. You should check it out if you haven't already.
