Doesn’t change the fact that Carpenter’s version is one of the best movies of all time imho.

Yet the old one is interesting as well. It’s not as engaging as the newer ones and the monster is a little lacking, but the dialogue is neat and unusual and there’s a crazy fire stunt.

I love it. The moonlight, the serenity. The whole atmosphere seems too relaxed for the time period. Yet I’m sure I’m watching with modern eyes.
