Kinda skeptic about this new format, let's see how it plays out...

Yes indeed it's pretty technical and content-heavy. It helped me that I took a class in university that covered many of the topics, still a few things went over my head. Maybe it's time I do a re-read of selected chapters

If you're asking for real, Designing Data-Intensive Applications is probably the best I've ever read (if you're into that kind of thing)

I remember when I got here it was a nightmare for the first few months when I didn't have strong auth. It took several months to open a bank account and you basically can't do anything without that stuff

Oh yes this QR code bullshit drives me nuts back home too

Been thinking of trying this. Thing is nobody uses cash anymore around here (Nordics). In supermarkets I know for sure I can use cash, but restaurants, bars or small business it's going to be hit and miss. I guess I'd have to endure the awkwardness of asking in every single place if they take cash or not

Another one of this kind is rm -rf node_modules && npm install

"Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendía was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice."

One hundred years of solitude - Gabriel García Márquez

Had it saved on my hard drive for years and recently re-discovered it. Seems to be from 2011 (!!)

Google is getting worse by the year, but it seems even back then some people were already seeing where things were going.

Hello. I sometimes receive images in HEIC format and I use an app to convert them to JPG. However I realized that this app uploads the images and makes the conversion in the cloud, so I stopped using it.

Does anyone know of an app that does this conversion offline?
