The term carnism was coined by social psychologist and author Melanie Joy in 2001

I have been hearing this term used to demean meat eaters since the late 80s. I guess they were all misinformed too.

It feels like user wasn't talking about specifically people on the carnivore diet. It came off as a slur against people on the most common diet on earth.

If you are describing omnivores as "carnies" then that would be a slur since most people consider people on the carnivore diet to be unhinged or misinformed.

Slurs exist to denigrate and diminish ones character.

Without argument, more vegetarians will help the world, but I don't think name calling wins hearts and minds.

"So you like Jazz?"

This is a really neat system for making your uneducated populace healthier. People can't be bothered to read so a single number to indicate something is unhealthy is rad.

I bought a boot removal tool my first year of college and was the savior of my friend group.

I reckon brown shirts became less popular in the late 40s. Maybe we wait until 2028 to stop wearing red caps.

It's clear this guy is an asshole. You are frothing trying to make an enemy of me but read with a little more care. I was always an ally and you are here trying to divide us. I feel like you didnt understand my comment so I'll repeat with emphasis.

It(Your use of redneck and hick as a pejorative.) drives those undereducated and uninvolved people(Single issue/peer sensative voters) to identify more with this asshole( The racist asshole that you somehow need me to clearly point out is both racist and an asshole.)

Read carefully.

It's clear I thought the first was offensive as well. Lemmy is all righteous anger and no purpose these days.

There is nothing wrong with living in a rural area or being a blue collar worker. The last sentence there is unnecessary.

As someone who has been in both those demographics, this guy doesn't represent me or the hardworking albeit sometimes simple people I grew up around.

Please don't use those words as a cudgel. It drives those undereducated and uninvolved people to identify more with this asshole than the progressives that have more in common with them beneath the surface.

They generally expel the water out the nostrils so drinking straws love to get lodged in their noses. Then they slowly die of starvation. Isn't life beautiful?

Both of these can be true.
