Fair point. I know I'm not alone in being entirely sick of hearing victims get blamed using words just like this, but you're right that it's extremely unlikely he meant it that way.

Castle had a message afterward about domestic violence: “Women need to understand: Don’t accept this kind of behavior. It’s not OK.”

Oh yes, women need to understand this isn't okay. ~~Fucking Jesus fucking wept, was this dickwipe trying to win Tone-Deaf Asshole Of The Century award?~~

Edit: okay, I had a visceral reaction to the statement and wasn't being fair to him in how I read it. I think he chose very poor words, but he's obviously not going to be eloquent at a time like that.

Well that's good news indeed! You can see if the strips might help with the snoring you do experience by performing "Cottle's Maneuver": https://www.ashfordclinic.com/blog/what-is-cottle-s-maneuver

You can try it when one side of your nose gets blocked too, to see if the steps would alleviate that as well, if you don't do that already. I've used it my whole life and didn't know it was a "thing" until my ENT showed me it and named it.

Intellectually honest in that they were open to having their minds changed through debate. Buckley saw his earlier positions were wrong, and regretted that he took them. This stands in contrast to the Republican party of today which is almost entirely dogmatic in its beliefs.

Ah, I didn't know there have been things that prevented the call from working (aside from the whole fall from grace storyline). I guess that's why I stopped reading comics. No consistency 😂

Important to note, Penicillium mold is not Penicillin. Bread commonly available in modern grocery stores is often not made the same way as back then, and will be growing and carrying other pathogens which you don't want to be getting into an open wound. Penicillin, the modern medicine, is highly processed, and impossible to manufacture without what amounts to a laboratory.

They covered this a bit, at the end of the article:

Furthermore, Egyptian bread was leavened without yeast, in contrast to ours, which typically contains yeast. Therefore, using our moldy bread to cover wounds is not recommended. Our bread contains numerous chemical elements that, instead of aiding in wound healing, could worsen the condition and potentially lead to more serious pathologies. Additionally, Egyptian bread was manufactured using clay pots baked on hot ashes, while our bread involves machines that, despite hygiene efforts, may harbor microbes or bacteria.

I got interested in how to make my own modem medicines because there's a nonzero chance I'll need to know how in my lifetime, so learning how hard it is to refine was a great disappointment.

That actually gets around my questions above nicely. Moving Mjølnir ≠ using Mjølnir. If the hammer can be moved by natural forces, it's just a chunk of metal - it won't have the devastating impact it does when Thor throws it.

And I guess if Thor woke up and called the hammer back, it'd go regardless of natural forces acting on it.

Uru is a metal ore from the first moon in existence, and has existed since the beginning of the universe, being said to be rubble from the rock of creation and the strongest substance in all the realms. It is purportedly unique to Nidavellir, one of the Ten Worlds. It resembles stone, but it also appears to have metallic properties.

Edit: I think I found a good answer below. Even if natural forces could lift Mjølnir, the enchantment would not be in effect - getting beaned by a 40-something pound chunk of metal would still hurt, but it wouldn't hit as hard as it does when Thor uses it.

~~Ah, but Magneto's not the one lifting the hammer - he's directing magnetic fields that are doing the lifting!~~

~~So, could the wind pick up Thor's hammer, if it were strong enough? How about changes in gravity - is Mjølnir as hard to pick up on the moon as at the surface of the Arctic ocean (Earth's highest-gravity location, I couldn't find coordinates)?~~

~~If so, then I ask: is the magic of the hammer smart enough to know the difference between a primal force and a primal force that's doing someone a favour?~~

A GIF of the human "success" animation for researching Core Waste Dumps, from the game "Master of Orion 2: Battle At Antares". I actually played a game all the way through to this point to get the footage, as I didn't have it on any of my games in progress at the moment.

Not only that, but the post I made it for got buried under downvotes, so nobody'd ever see it if I only posted it there. I hope other enjoyers of this sci-fi 4X classic find a pleasant dose of nostaligia in it 🖖
