I'm not the first person to say this, but why not Mastodon? Why give control to another billionaire?
because people are so domesticated, they'd feel weird if there's nobody exploiting their data

It’s not even another billionaire, it’s Jack Dorsey, the twitter guy. I do not understand why anyone who dislike twitter cares about bluesky at all.
The entertainment industry (which includes most journalists in my opinion) loves twitter's centralized control. They don't hate twitter, they just hate the new owner.

The only thing that surprises me is that Twitter (Sorry, X the everything app) has held on this long. At least set something up to auto post your posts on both while you transition over, but moving to BlueSky should be everyone’s obvious goal with the cesspit Twitter is now.
People like to be performatively stupid and pretend they can’t understand federation despite everyone having email addresses from different providers in exactly the same way.
