I don't want mass-adoption of Lemmy by more Reddit users (said a former Reddit lurker who likes it here and actually participates because it's awesome at this stage).
I sort of do because I'd like the projects themselves to continue thriving (like on a code level)... but I also don't want yet another Eternal September after surviving Slashdot, k5, digg and now reddit :(
the piracy drama was good actually because most of the reasonable people from .world will move to smaller instances (and take their communities with them) which will make it easier to block .world and take out a huge chunk of Redditors(tm) in one fell swoop
the problem is freeze peachers are also moving away from .world onto the same "smaller" instances.
we need more instances with stricter moderation, which is way easier said than done
freeze peachers?
I've struggled with this thought as well.
On one hand, I welcome anyone who wants to contribute in a positive way to the threadiverse. On the other hand if it somehow becomes ubiquitous for this purpose, I feel like it'll lose what makes it special.
I can't tell if I'm gatekeeping or not.
