Even if it were true that China was doing bulk data harvesting (which is bullshit), the argument that it’s somehow “less safe” makes zero sense. If you’re a US citizen/resident, the US government is clearly a bigger threat to your life and livelihood. What’s China gonna do to foreigners? Ban them from entering their country? On the other hand, we can be sure that China won’t hand your data over to the US government. So wouldn’t that make Chinese apps safer for Americans?
china is stealing my data and figuring out what sort of products to advertise to me and i wont fucking have it. that data is for american corporations to manipulate me with, not these fucking communist corporations in china.
China using my data to sell me things more efficiently on AliExpress is an absolute win because I love cheap diy electronics gizmos.
