Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

Too much risk of peer pressure and influence by outsiders.
It's a deep invasion into the body chemistry and shady guardians/doctors could do more harm than it would help actual deserving recipients.
So it's the usual: The one ruins it for all.
You are parrotting a very, very common transphobic talking point, despite the truth being that that taking hormones is very rarely regretted. A teenager shouldn't be forced to deal with gender dysphoria for years just because there is a teeny tiny chance they regret it. Have you ever thought about why trans suicide rates are so high? No matter how you frame it, trans healthcare saves lives.
I am neither pro- nor con to this idea.
In my opinion, the choice is yours to have as long as it won't interfere with mine (meaning you may atom bomb a whole continent as long as I can live as I am content with it too).
Yes, having to deal with the dysphoria is a problem.
Yes, I may deal with an egg problem myself. Maybe not very much.
Yes, some ruined it for all.
Yes, it's sad but there are se that could make something that se have a fetish for a living hell.
I know what psychotherapie is like.
If it could enable an early entry free for the person in need free from any outside influence, I am all for it and wish them my best.
Sadly there are many difficult hoops to juml through.
what makes you think children aren't capable of giving informed consent? that's ultimately the practice you take issue with. and so do most transphobes and "save the children" people
Bro they're children??? Try having sex with one and then ask the same question to the judge before you're jailed for life.
Well there is no medical need for pedophilia, in fact its a terrible thing. No good person would disagree. However, HRT is not morally wrong, and is often medically necessary.
