A prepaid hoster located in Frankfurt. I have a VPS running since 6 month and am quite fond of the service.

Actually the people I know still got VPS for gaming. But they use solutions that are tailored to gaming rather than generic "do it yourself" VPS. Simple Web-UIs for predefined games make it super easy for newbies to start something.
