Are people trying to flee to Saudi Arabia because it’s the closest border? I can’t imagine many people wanting to go there willingly.
Saudi Arabia is technically a "rich" country, particularly compared to Ethiopia, Somalia or Yemen. What these people might not know, is that they don't want immigrants, only temporary slave workers. So while it's possible to find a job there and hopefully get paid and let go back to your country, they have zero interest in granting asylum (and citizenship!) to anyone.
