A man who was believed to be part of a peacekeeping team for the “No Kings” protest in Salt Lake City shot at a person who was brandishing a rifle at demonstrators, striking both the rifleman and a bystander who later died at the hospital, authorities said Sunday.

Police took the alleged rifleman, Arturo Gamboa, 24, into custody Saturday evening on a murder charge, Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd said at a Sunday news conference. The bystander was Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, 39, a fashion designer from Samoa.

Detectives don’t yet know why Gamboa pulled out a rifle or ran from the peacekeepers, but they accused him of creating the dangerous situation that led to Ah Loo’s death. The Associated Press did not immediately find an attorney listed for Gamboa or contact information for his family in public records.

I’ll be honest.

“ What does this have to do with your fantasy of shooting people in a McDonalds?”

That right there, that’s when I decided I really don’t give a fuck how you feel or what you have to say. Have fun crying, though.

Maybe I shouldn't have been so crass. Maybe you shouldn't have been so obtuse and avoidant. Mistakes were made, had I known your proximity to the people involved ahead of time I probably would have cut you more slack. More communication and explanation up front is always better.

You still couldnt answer the question though? So there really was no point at all to the McDonalds comment? And your condescending attitude after you were asked about it? The nerve.

The point was that if it was justified to shoot at the guy at the protest then it would be justified to shoot anyone open carrying to wal-mart or McDonald’s, which it’s not. The video evidence does not show anything that justifies shooting into a crowd and killing someone in a situation where open carrying is permitted. Only one person committed gun violence and it wasn’t Gamboa, he had every right to have a weapon, the man who shot into a crowd and killed someone specifically did not have the right to be carrying a weapon, according to the job he signed on for and was supposed to be doing.

I’m sure that’s not good enough, though, right?
