I mean, it depends, if the game is trying to be deep and artistic then it makes sense to critique it as such, especially if it's historical. But if it's just mindless fun (unless it's CoD or similar propaganda), as in taming dinosaurs or shooting stuff up, then I just don't see the point in trying to do that, not everything has to be mindlessly analyzed, that personally destroyed my enjoyment of a lot of movies.

I get your point about overanalyzing things that don't need to be. But i don't think that means that its any less art. All movies are art. I don't think all movies should be analyzed the same way and to the same degree, because they aren't all trying to do the same thing, right? There's differemt genres, different things that the artists involved are trying to achieve. Something Stepbrothers or Anchor Man are trying to do something different than The Godfather, or Citizen Kane, or whatever - but theyre all still movies - they're all still art.

Movies are a different matter, almost every movie is and can be artistic, besides the obvious exceptions of shock value stuff.

No all art is art, even if its bad or made for shock value. Art doesn't have to be "artistic" or deep.
