That's not collapse, that's just justice. That's people being held accountable for their crimes. Society is still going to function fine without them, their roles, if they even have any, will just be taken over by the next person in the command structure.

Or, better yet, we (as in society as a whole) can take the opportunity of clearing house to restructure our government (and, by extension, economic) systems to one where corrupt individuals cannot readily acquire hierarchical authority over others and entrench themselves behind layers of systemic powers.

Instead of an electoralist system where we elect representatives to dictate at their discretion which interests they will ultimately support for a federated system of syndicates where each has a set of delegates which have been assigned a specific responsibilities and expectations where, if those individuals are found to neglect their responsibilities, we can readily rescind their power of authority and replace them.

Power must come from the bottom up, otherwise we are slaves to the whims of those who wield authority from on high.
