Swords. Knights were landlords and cops combined. Samurai were the same. So all the cool fantasy movies and samurai movies are just copaganda. Swords themselves were pretty much only good for rich people to use on poor people anyway
Spears were the people's weapon for much of history across the world for a lot of good reasons.

Halberds are the true people's weapon!
That's why I wanna write fantasy that shows knights as thugs. Cuz I still think swords are cool NGL.
A medieval western story about commoners fighting back against knights would be like those old tales of eastern peasants learning martial arts to fight back against samurai. I could dig it.
