@ruud @WhoRoger I started to follow lemmy.world from mastodon pretty much at the same time it was launched when lemmy.ml became overwhelmed with loads of users, happy to be here
Personally I think lemmy.world was key in driving momentum. After realizing a couple days before the protests started that reddit was not going to change, I started looking for real alternatives. When I found lemmy, I thought I had to join the biggest instance to get a shot at seeing enough content, not understanding how the fediverse worked yet. I imagine it was the same for a lot of people. And the bigger userbase lemmy.world got, the more appealing it was for reddit refugees. Once we got here we now know we can branch out to other instances if needed, but lemmy.world's awesome handling of the user influx absolutely looked appealing to people looking to make the jump, and we shouldn't discount that. Awesome work to @ruud and all the admins he has brought on the team. We appreciate you all.
