Where are the 11 sanction Pakets against Azerbaijan similar to the one against Russia? Oh wait. Suddenly invading your neighbour is not that bad anymore and buying gas is super fine. Fucking hypocrites.
(and if people now come to tell me that artsakh is not Armenian territory. You know damn well that Armenians live there and the borders have been drawn by the ussr. People who think Crimea belongs to Ukraine should also belive artsakh belongs to Armenia)
I think the complication is that Artsakh has been recognized as Azerbaijanian territory for quite some time whereas Crimea has been recognized as Ukrainian land.
Yes the USSR drew the lines, and it seems to be done on purpose to cause ethnic tensions should the USSR ever collapse (and surprise surprise, that’s what we have now)
And yet in the 2014 census of Crimea 67% of the people have been russians. So if this is Ukraine, why should a region with 99% Armenians that has been in facto independent since a quick war 1991 after the fall of the ussr be part of Azerbaijan?
Our western international politics is hypocritical. My foreign minister wants to have moral bases politics. That's why we have a lot of sanctions against Russia - makes sense. But then why do we choose to import more fossils from Azerbaijan instead and ignore their war crimes?
That is a very common tactic with Russia. Annex land, then forcibly remove the local population and move a bunch of Russians in. Then it becomes easier to claim the “new territory” as filled with Russians.
Again, I think the major distinction is the recognized borders of the territories. Artsakh is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, not Armenia.
Are you confusing something? The 2014 census showed a higher number of Ukrainians than the 2001 one, the Russian part of the population made up a higher percentage because the overall population shrank.
As for the recognition in artsakh: a lot of us states regoznised the territory. I know that the EU did not do it, but - as I have said before- they do not want to anger Azerbaijan as we get a lot of fossils from there. This is why it is hypocritical to ditch Russian gas in favor of Azerbaijan one.

Russia uses migration as a weapon to occupy its newly annexed territories.
I can’t opine on the recognition or not re: Artsakh, but regional politics absolutely plays a role. Unfortunately Azerbaijan has more Allie’s on the West than does Armenia.
However, the move from Russian gas supplies to other sources makes sense.
A region that's 99% one ethnicity is someone elses territory?
Because racism against Armenians who are an extreme minority is now acceptable to everyone apparently
Because Armenia decided that they wanted Russia's help to protect them. And I don't believe they've asked the international community for help either, at least not like Ukraine did.
Ask Russia where the help is.
Do you think the west will just help every country if they just ask nicely? Sounds naiv.
And Armenia just more or less gave up their thrust in Russia, so do you think Europe and the US will aid to help tomorrow?
France and Germany would likely step up their ties with Armenia. If that were to translate into immediate military support I don't know, as this is happening in what Russia considers its "backyard".
