Well, what do you think about Zelenśkyj?
I like him. Am I not supposed to or something?
No, actually.
@SoLongSealion@lemmy.world is literally a sea lion.

I don't think that's a coincidence
Suspending elections until war is over is encoded in their constitution.
That does not make it better in any way.
Maybe take it up with the people who wrote the constitution.
Those people prefigured the situation, much like the US founders created the structural framework for disenfranchisement, racial capitalism, and global imperialism. We can't take it up with them, we just need to assess it soberly. Contemporaries do not get free passes merely because the precursors were created by now-dead peope
That's all well and good, but they're under attack by Putin, a Nazi who accuses everyone of nazism. Opening elections at this point would just encourage idiots to vote for their oppressors.
Is this projection?
Being anti-democracy and calling more than half of ukrainian people idiots, typical westerner behavior.
not everyone you disagree with is a nazi bro
ad 1: You already know what would happen to Ukrainian spies in Russia. They can thank their lucky stars for still being alive and held in a country with actual morals. ad 2: You already know what would've happened to pro-Ukrainian parties in Russia long before 2014. ad 3: All the while Putler is trying to take his country back to that "romantic" era. Seems to me like what's good for Putler can't possibly be good for his sworn enemies. ad 4: That's how fucking martial law works.
Seriously what do you expect national policy to look like when you're being invaded? Just let others spy on you, meddle with your national politics in parliament, weaken your resolve? When war starts shit gets fucking real really fucking quick. Putler has declared Ukrainians sub-humans, inferior to the "actual Russian/Slav", he is abducting their children. This is genocide and it's just mindboggling how people in actual free countries manage to twist the narrative into such directions like "Ukraine should just sue for a ceasefire".
Especially you with your Black-Red-and-Gold profile picture should know how well suing for peace worked with Hitler. Dictators just take what they can until they are dictators no more. Putin will take whatever he possibly can for as long as there is still a breath left in his body. He will rebuild his military, no matter how long it takes, he will model Russia's economy after North Korea's and you already know he absolutely will be back for more of the same.
Putler this, putler that, put some sense into your brain bro lmao. You're just using buzzwords you see in the media, it's incredible that you own a brain but seem incapable of using it.
Bold of you to assume they have a brain
Why does he have so much support from NATO countries considering these points?
Look who’s just figuring out that nato is just rebranded imperialism
I'm not arguing, I'm just honestly asking questions. Why is NATO imperialistic? From my perspective, they are trying to help an independent country defend itself from people who are trying to take it from them by force.
NATO actively pushed the Ukrainians into this war, because what is happening here is a proxy war. NATO, US and EU officials openly admit this, and even brag about it.
This war didn't start in 2022. It started in 2012 with the Maidan coup.
Furthermore, if you think NATO is not an imperialist organization, then I don't think you've been following what has been going on in the world since its inception.
I'm still a bit confused. It was Ukraine that was attacked by Russia and needed to defend itself. How did NATO push them into war?
Edit: and yes, of course I agree that members of NATO have had a past of imperialism. But does that really mean that they should be labelled an "imperialistic organization" as they stand today?
Thanks for answering to that guy. It was pretty obvious they were not here "just asking questions", and also obvious they were downvoting any answer they got, but it's good to engage the trolls and show other people reading the conversation the reality.
@SoLongSealion @OrnluWolfjarl they didn't, and these people are talking crap.
Between the Ukraine war and the Wagner coup, we've learned that if NATO ever wanted to come down on Russia like a tonne of bricks, the best Putin could do is blow up his roads and fuck off into a hole somewhere.
I sure hope Russia's paying them, 'cause the alternative is even more depressing.
I'm honestly unpleasantly surprised to see this much pro Russian propaganda, but it makes sense. Smaller platform means more radicals get a voice.

No investigation, no right to speak
Oh, and I'm not pro-Russia - fuck Putin - but the Donbass etc voted to secede to Russia and the Ukraine bombed the shit out of them...so yeah. The US and, by extension, NATO, are supporting the war to keep it going because it's a proxy war because Communism scary.

Because NATO is not "pro-democracy". Portugal under the Salazar regime was one of the founders of NATO.
I'm not even anti-NATO or anti-Selensky, but man this is naive. NATO is a political tool like any other organisations funded by nations.
Lol
