I’ve never actually heard or seen someone honor such a request online or IRL, and it would sound ridiculously stilted if they did. Where is Rumpelstiltskin's coat? Rumpelstiltskin must have left it at the bar. Will someone please text Rumpelstiltskin and let Rumpelstiltskin know?

it does sound stilted IRL and people are probably going to default to "they" in english anyway which is part of why i don't care enough irl even though genderless language is probably a better fit for me than "they" or some neopronoun.

gender-neutral and genderless are slightly different.

It is. You use it if you don't know a person's sex or preferred pronouns.
