Hah, as I've said in other replies, your contributions greatly outweigh my annoyance. But it's still annoying (to me) 😉
Luckily I can contribute to my client to add a feature to hide display names, so I'll just do that.

Just a heads-up, some folks (and instances) add pronouns as part of the display name. I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to disable display names, but it's a relevant caveat that would pop up later, so I just wanted to make sure you know now.
