I mean... We already criticize the Conservatives and the oil corps quite a lot here (on Lemmy), right? Why not make fun of a hypocrite at the same time? But sure, I still kinda get ur point. This'll be the last Swift meme from me.

You know Taylor tried to silence the Jet Tracker Kid last week, maybe she’s try to silence Lemmy Memes now? Feels like last few days there has been a big uptick in “oh no lets not point to Taylor because there are other people to point to who are worse people” posts in response to memes.

Ignoring entirely that it’s a tired gag already. I would wager a sizeable amount of the pushback is from people who are just tired of seeing these posts still clustering about their feeds.

Then criticize the laziness or lameness of the joke; don't act like legitimate criticism of a billionaire is illegitimate just because she's a woman

There are 2,310 male billionaires. There are just 337 female billionaires. Considering she’s only worth $1.1 billion, I’d dare say that a significant number of those men have a higher net worth. But instead of seeing any posts criticising any of them lately (except Musk & Bezos), I’ve seen one of the minority of women targeted repeatedly. One that, for the most part, isn’t actively harming the world.

Like hell, if you want to be critical of a female billionaire, let me introduce to you Australia’s richest person: Gina Rinehart.. She owns a mining empire, is racist as fuck and tried to swindle her children out of their inheritance from her father. Oh, but as she tells it, she’s not an heiress. Her mining company has destroyed countless indigenous cultural sites. She is a massive cunt.

Like, I’m sorry, but I just don’t buy the whole “all billionaires are equally evil” bullshit. There are far far worse people that we should be spending this energy on.

Feel free to make any anti-Gina Rinehart or male billionaires memes and I promise I will upvote those too.

It can be two things

[–] Vespair@lemm.ee 21 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Nah, fuck that post and fuck you trying to use it to shut down criticism.

All billionaires are evil and worthy of criticism.

The implication that post (and now you) seem to be making is that because she's a woman she's beyond criticism, and that's bullshit.

Take your billionaire apologist bullshit and go fuck off.

When we say "eat the rich" we don't mean "eat the rich, unless they're totally girlbossing!"

All billionaires are evil and worthy of criticism.

But especially this one who coincidentally happens to be a woman who the right wing despises at the moment.

We as leftists have to stop letting what the right is or isn't doing dictate our actions. The criticism of Swift's jet impact existed before the right cared about her. We have to stop letting the right poison every one of our wells.

The criticism is legitimate and I don't give two shits what the shitbags on the right care about on this or any other topic.

We as leftists

Hello, fellow leftist!

have to stop letting what the right is or isn't doing dictate our actions.

Yes, and that's exactly why you shouldn't be feeding into this outrage manufactured by the right.

It's not apologetics to point out that she's not the only nor the worst offender.
