okay I'm starting to feel like there's no one else but us old people on Lemmy
Used to be to get to California, ya had to hitch up yer covered wagon and cross the wild western plains fer months. Now ya gotcha ya Tes-las and yer Aer-o-planes.
If you're 200 years old, ya might wanna consult the Guinness book of world records.
No kidding. What is this, Facebook? AOL? I’m going over to Altavista to search for what the younger generation might be doing.
We’re not old, we’re wise.
I'm not wise. I'm just old.
Congrats for using your time wisely. Not everyone does.
I did a similar thing, but I would tell them the phone number of the public phone I was calling from, so they could call me and we could have a normal conversation. If they didn't call right away, I'd do it again, knowing they'd be waiting for the number this time.
Damn, why did I never think of this.
Haha yes, even after that when mobile phones first became widespread over here they cost way more than calling on the landline. If I was out and needed to have an actual conversation, I'd find a payphone and send an SMS with the number.
Payphone rates were just extortion.
Yeah, remember when you used to have to buy minutes??! With some plans you could roll over unused minutes, but with others you couldn't! Like 20 bucks for 100 minutes and you couldn't even save them from month to month! I'm glad those days are gone, but I'm not sure we're paying any less...
