... Context?
Gary's mod, having assets if Nintendo properties. Nintendo wants that removed. People are somehow shocked.
The shock is, these are fanmade mods on the Steam Workshop, not asset theft. It'd be like Nintendo suing Bethesda over Relics of Hyrule.
Yeah, they could do that. Maybe they will. That's capitalism for you. It doesn't care about users, just the property.
They will eventually. It is in AAA's best interest to kill modding and theres nothing we can do about it.
No it isnt and yes there is.
Some people said that the notices Garry's Mod received for takedown of Nintendo content weren't actually from Nintendo. They're saying that actually the takedowns are legit and so they'll be removing the Nintendo content.
The people that said it wasn't from nintendo never bothered checking who registered the domain. ICANN allows for searching for this information easily but it was even easier to just say "well it doesnt look legit to me" instead of actually checking. And yes that domain (mm-nintendo.com) is registered to Nintendo of America as you can verify here: https://lookup.icann.org/en
Thank you!
Nintendo content removal.
That didn't help at all.
