Move on from the dog-murder shit already. Rural and farm animals get killed by their owners. That’s how farms work. Grow the fuck up about it.
Anyone with any practical experience in farming knows that the lives of animals used for service are cheap and are freely killed when they outlast their practical usefulness.
This happens every day. And all the pearl-clutching over this only serves to alienate rural voters who are well-aware of this. And maybe they could be reached with appeals to livable wages, lack of access to viable health care or the autonomy of their own bodies. But framing a “yuck” campaign around the unpleasant truths of rural life drives an empathy wedge between that voter and pearl-clutching “animal loving” city dwellers who adore their dogs and cats and don’t give a second thought to where their hamburgers and chicken nuggets come from.
This is not important. What matters is her legislative history. Working to amend the 14th amendment to define “personhood” as conception, loosening gun control, being an opponent of the Affordable Care Act, supporting Trump’s 2017 Muslim travel ban. These things matter.
'Killed her 14 month old dog for misbehaving' is the clicky headline. But the subtext is, this person might be the republican running mate, and her story is presented as a parable about how killing is 'a job that needs to be done'. It's not crazy to put those pieces together and be anxious about the direction they point in.
I can see where you're coming from. You're right that her story is divisive. I think that's the objective. It's an engineered, populist, fascist move to present the story in the way that she does. No one in the public eye writes that kind of thing in a book and expects it to fly under the radar.
You're also right that there's a strong rural/urban ideological division. Best way to fix that I think is to talk to each other more, IRL, and try to honestly understand the perspectives of others, especially if they're different from our own. My 2¢.
Inflation has risen the cost of your opinion, it now costs ~37¢
What do rural folk who kill their dogs instead of training them know about politics. Stop putting people who are grossly ill-equiped to do the job in charge.
We are in the fucking Olympics of world politics and the best you can put forward is a two-timing pussy graber and a inbred dog murderer. You can't make this shit up.
Lol, imagine being an apologist for a puppy murderer
So, imagine being a conservative? No thank you!
Nope, I don't believe I will.
Maybe you should be directing this sentiment at the woman who keeps talking about how she killed her dog.
I have lived decades in rural areas. People that murdered dogs were considered sick by rural people as well. Someone that flew into a blind rage and then murdered a goat would be considered the same.
Yeah, having lived in rural America all my life I can safely say two things:
Competent dog owners in rural America put their dogs down when they can't work anymore. Tell me, how does it make sense to invest in a dog for a year and two months only to shoot it twice after torturing it, especially at such a young age where they can absolutely still be trained?
Pounds exist. Fuck it, if you want to outsource putting a dog down - it's callous but it's not illegal. Please, in detail, explain to me why this woman could not have simply given her dog to the pound, or literally any other shelter? Please tell me why she needed to torture and kill the dog?
This isn't pearl clutching, she's a god damned psychopath and should be treated as such.
Speaking as someone who has lived in rural areas most of his life. You are wrong. Or lying. Or a sick fuck who believes everyone else is too.
Ask any cowboy what the worst day of his life is and I can guarantee 80% of them will respond with a story about the death of a dog.
Fucking disgusting. Get help.
No. I grew up in the country. Kiling an old dog quickly with gun when they suffering, thats happens. This is sick shit. Thus killing a puppy that was described as "the embodiment of joy", and why because it did act like a fully trained qdult on its first hunting trip.
Words of a real fascist bootlicker. You people make me sick.
Conservative oppressors have never been defeated by pacifist victims. Violence has historically been the only solution to a plague of conservative oppression. Talking openly about the cruelty of the oppressors is the first step in curing the infection. Grow the fuck up about it.
I’ll all say is: if your adversary gives you some ammunition, it’s generally a good idea to give it back to them at a much higher velocity.
