It would be a cover if they paid royalties. But they straight up stole a crapload of songs from known blues musicians without ever giving a cent back. Culture vulture shit. And yeah fuck RHCP, their lead singer is a know sex pest and its the dumbest band on earth.
Yeah exactly. Zepplin, and plenty of other rock musicians at the time, just stole from blues musicians and black musicians and artists without giving any credits. At least Dave Grohl was a lot better in this regard, he just took inspiration from disco and funk drummers (didn't directly copy or steal), and has even acknowledged it in interviews.
Oh no wonder the lead singer from RHCP gives me creepy vibes, didn't know that but it explains it now.
Dave Grohl is genuinely one of the only white rockers I like, at least one of the only ones who's still living.
The guys from Rise Against are another group that actually seem pretty cool, but otherwise yeah lots of arseholes in rock, and I say this as someone that loves rock music. The genre seems plauged by the same sad and terrible stories. For example I love the band Queens of the Stone Age musically, but Josh Homme seems like an arse that only seems to be returning to planet earth now after decades of drug abuse, and Nick Oliveri is a domestic abuser and got SWAT teams called on him for that.
That's not to say other genres of music are any better, but the cliché of rock stars partaking in destructive behaviour of others or themselves can really sour the experience.
