I think Hakim has some videos on the USSR censorship. However as as an atheist myself I think suppression of religion is a good thing when does properly. In the USSR the suppression of of religion through their methods lead to the use of those religious individuals for right wing capitalist "resistance" and was a large reason for the decline into the current broken oligarchy..
it's the ideal policy however it's also just bad policy. There's a reason China's religious freedom works so well (they only really supress fascist death cults, of course).

I agree with this. I think the best way prevent organized religion from undue influence over public policy, or over individuals in bad personal situations, is to provide reliable and complete public services that are typically provided by religious groups in capitalist countries. For example, addiction support groups. Religious persecution just feeds into martyr complexes.
yeah traditional religions are very much alive in rural china.
