How does he just announce crunch when everyone in the community is pushing for this abuse of workers to stop. Guess because he's just the biggest egomaniac in this industry

Is it possible that it's something lost in translation, and he just means the final stretch with all hands on deck situation, without the negative over-working connotation?

I don't follow him though, so no idea what he actually means.

Over-working is a common thing in Japan in general (this is oversimplifying things of course). So I wouldn't be sure the anti crunch movement has reached Japan's part of the industry fully.

Yeah, it's possible.

Ah, so assholes trying to stomp the meaning out of an important term.

Ah, so assholes trying to define for others what they mean.

So many Japanese creatives, so many creatives everywhere, swear up and down they’re at the end and can’t continue on.

Guess what? They keep coming back. How many time has Hayao Miyazaki come back from retirement now?

The only thing that stops people like this is death.

After seeing The Boy and the Heron in theaters… I think Miyazaki is done putting out bangers.

I haven't seen every studio ghibli movie, but I thought the boy and the heron was pretty good: I liked it a lot more than whisper of the heart for example, but not as much as princess monoko, spirited away, my neighbour totoro, or howls moving castle.

I thought it was about on par with Ponyo.

Are there any you'd recommend that are better apart from those?

Porco Rosso is slept on and it’s a crime. Must watch the dub with Michael Keaton in the lead role.

my personal favourite is Laputa Castle in the Sky

It's not technically Ghibli, but Nausicaa is another fantastic movie by Miyazaki
