Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

Honestly, this is pretty in-character for both of them.

If this is from an actual comic what is it?

[–] shzammm@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm not sure. I saved this back in 2016 and wanted to post to encourage community interaction

Dang. I wasn't sure if you'd answer, i commented also in part to contribute to community interactions 😅

Wow this thread is so cool. I'm also commenting to add to the community.

I should get into reading star wars comics

[–] shzammm@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago (3 children)

The Darth Vader ones are GREAT. Darth Vader 2015 and 2017 in particular. I think 2015 occurs after ANH. Very "prime" Vader. The 2017 one is my fav. It occurs right after RotS and we get to see him really become Vader

I've read more of the novels than comics

I looooove the start of the Marvel run with the comics set between 4 + 5, setting up the OT group as a team and detailing all the fucked up shit Vader got into.

What about novels then? I've heard the thrawn trilogy is decent

[–] shzammm@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I haven't read the new Thrawn trilogy, but the og sequels by Timothy Zahn from like the 80s are amazing. Heir to the Empire is the first one, so I was real excited to see that tag line in the Ahsoka trailer

The Darth Bane trilogy is great. Just some ancient sith shit from the time when there were as many sith as Jedi and how it came to be that the Jedi thought the sith were destroyed

RotS novelization is AMAZING. Read Labyrinth of Evil first. It covers the few days before RotS and leads right up to it. It covers "that business on Cato Neimodia" that Obi says doesn't count as Ani saving his life

Plagueis is also really cool. You get to see Palpatines rise to the dark side and some stuff that was happening behind the scenes leading up to and during TPM

Thank you for the recommendations!

[–] shzammm@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Feel free to hit me up if you decide to read any of them! I always love talking about star wars

Aren't those by Kieron Gillen? Everything that man writes is fucking gold.

I'm pretty sure it is but I can't remember which comic. I have the official ESB comic but I don't remember it there, maybe its from one of the what if style comics? can't remember their names atm

Yoda- "Your weapons, you will not need them. "

*Luke takes weapons anyway.

Yoda- "Stutter did I? Hm? Ugh… no use it is, do what Luke will do, Luke.. Will do. "

[–] TheRevenger@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hmm. If those Younglings were younger and had softer undeveloped skulls, maybe Ani wouldn't have gotten the drop on em

[–] RIPandTERROR@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Explains grogu

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

At least Yoda's no longer running over kids in his 2001 Honda Civic.

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago

This doesn't quite follow Yoda-speech conventions.
