I'm begining to see the use of ai similarly to my alcohol problems. It's way too easy to rely on it too much. I never was a good author, but I can tell that the quality of what I can write on my own has degraded since I started using ai.

They're adding 'AI' to notepad...I hope they all touch wet food from the sink.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

And yet, there's still no AI in the calculator. :(

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

yeah I hate that the calculator does its job well. I hope they add an AI so it can fail the most basic mathematical concepts.

125×6=

I can't help with that right now.

yeah, I'm actively avoiding products that tout AI. It's a worse experience and my data gets used to train some model for some company's enrichment.

You mean to tell me that I DON'T need an AI-powered faucet?

[–] Hellstormy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

AI-powered toilets! The latest hot shit!

[–] flambonkscious@sh.itjust.works 7 points 21 hours ago

Some degenerates are flogging mattresses with AI, somehow!?

Oh that reminds me, the sprint planning is all day tomorrow.

“The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy. “

You weren’t expecting any time to do actual work do you? I once worked with a guy who was in so many teams simultaneously that he spent more then half his day in stand ups.

Hermes Conrad has entered the chat.

Why do you have a Sprint planning of a day. Either you have too long sprints, a terrible Po, no refinements or just a short work day

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

In one of my jobs we had an all-day sprint planning meeting and later an all-day "sprint grooming" meeting. I refused to attend the grooming one. These were for 3-week sprints lol.

[–] moonburster@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

Damn, good on you for skipping the latter

The thing is, it doesn't use that much electricity for queries compared to training. So as always, this is squarely on the company, not users. By the way, we are wasting half of all energy going into running the internet on ads.

Reminds me of Microsoft Office changing things over the years for accessibility purposes, but just making it harder for me to use.

[–] Zip2@feddit.uk 8 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

For me it all started going down hill when they introduced the ribbon.

Have you tried an image search lately? It's fucking terrible. It's all AI generated crap. They need a filter to filter out any AI generated image.

[–] dangleheadturtle@sh.itjust.works 10 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

OMG yesss, it started around 2 years ago when image results on google became more and more filled with generic AI images. I hated it so much. I switched to pages like deviantart, but even they include AI images now :(

For the last few years, every time I've looked at the DeviantArt homepage, it's run rampant with inflation porn. Every goddamn time. I've tried hiding a few dozen of them, but there's either no personalized algorithm, or it absolutely sucks. I've now basically written the site off as an inflation fetish site.

[–] Zwiebel@feddit.org 5 points 18 hours ago

On gelbooru and the like you can exclude tags with a minus, so -ai_generated to get rid of it

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Lol i never came across inflation porn on DeviantArt. Furry on the other hand...

It’s becoming the evolved form of the paper clip from 90s MS word.

Clippy never died. He went home and started training.

My team does design reviews and the sudden deluge of AI projects is drowning us with stuff that needs to be done yesterday because it needs to be available in the next release.
