I didn't really want to keep spotlighting American domestic events as I had assumed that shit would calm down pretty quickly, but it appears that the Trump administration, including Musk, are determined to bring down the empire from the inside.

One of the most important lessons of ruling a country - and especially an empire - is to never, ever believe your own propaganda; and yet now we have neo-Nazi failsons disrupting parts of the imperial apparatus and causing general government mayhem because they actually seem to believe in libertarianism; that the state and the capitalists are somehow in opposition, rather than working in lockstep to maximise profit and boost American hegemony around the world.

I'm not so optimistic as to believe that a national collapse is FOUR DAYS AWAY, like those weird anti-China cranks often speculate - the US has at least a decade or two left even under these conditions. But consider the damage being inflicted in these past couple weeks, and extrapolate that over the next four years. Does any living American political figure possess the competency to halt - or even meaningfully slow - the already ongoing decline? And could they achieve power (or even be allowed to do so) after Trump's term is done?

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

USPS claims to be halting imports of packages from China. Wonder how long this latest manifestation of random thrashing will last?

[–] TrashGoblin@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

Less than 24 hours, as it happened.

[–] Coolkidbozzy@hexbear.net 91 points 2 days ago (6 children)

trump has suggested a US occupation of Gaza

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 76 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This would cost so many american lives. It will never happen.

American soldiers aren't going to magically fare better than the Israeli ones. They might be better trained and more disciplined (relatively) but they're never going to be able to handle Hamas popping out of holes

[–] CleverOleg@hexbear.net 39 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I agree it will never happen, but I have fantasized a bit tonight about how people I know IRL would react to me being absolutely delighted at the site of dead American troops.

“Hey check out this video of some dumbass troop from East Bumfuck getting a yassin 105 right in his ear! LMAO”

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 72 points 2 days ago

US Private Military Contractors are already on the ground in Gaza manning the checkpoints between the north and south as Palestinians return to the north, so why not go one step further and put US boots on the ground proper?

I hate everything right now...

[–] IceWallowCum@hexbear.net 80 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Libs and western "leftists" in the near future:

  1. once it starts, (correctly) claim trump is doing genocide

  2. when the following Dem just continues doing the same 4 years from now, say it's cool and good that America is helping Gaza rebuild 🙏

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 45 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Libs think Palestinians deserve the genocide for being too uppity and costing them the election

[–] carpoftruth@hexbear.net 41 points 2 days ago

If only the democrats had wanted to win against trump more than they wanted to openly do genocide, but here we are

It would have been such a simple thing - kamala shows even the slightest backbone in the summer against Bibi, do some performative nonsense, then go back to enthusiastically doing genocide after Nov

So far not really mentioning the Palestinians at all or using the word genocide, mostly focusing on optics of the comments about Gaza and redeveloping it. Though one anchor on CNN at least acknowledged its understandable they wouldn't want to leave.

trump-netanyahu meeting about future of Gaza

isn't there someone you forgot to ask? obaida-index

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 75 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He suggested it could be the "riviera" of the middle east. He also went on about how great the ethnic displacement will be, the Palestinians will be in a great beautiful wonderful community. They won't have to live in Gaza, which he called a hellhole after describing in detail the horrors ordered directly by the man standing next to him. One of the worst things I've never seen

[–] sempersigh@hexbear.net 52 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He described land as if it were a loaf of bread or some shit

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 47 points 2 days ago

We will just build some nice Florida-style subdivisions and have Jordan pay for it.

[–] Torenico@hexbear.net 53 points 2 days ago

I trust the Resistance knows the US and "israel" are planning something big for them in the coming months and that they are ready for it.

[–] Saoirse@hexbear.net 64 points 2 days ago (7 children)

Ok gang what's the going odds that the US actually attempts to annex Canada?

[–] Boise_Idaho@hexbear.net 47 points 2 days ago

Not going to seriously happen unless the US suffers a massive L like Ansarallah sinking an aircraft carrier and broadcasting a live feed of the aircraft carrier slowly sinking into the ocean. If that happens, annexation of Canada for the sake of restoring national pride is far more likely.

[–] SeventyTwoTrillion@hexbear.net 39 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Less than 1%, imo. It's already effectively the case that Canada is a US protectorate, and I personally doubt that they'd genuinely want to try and make their ownership official when the drawbacks of having to manage that territory are fairly substantial. American bureaucracy is already in severe decay, and the whole promoted image of American foreign interventions is that they, well, intervene, not invade and annex.

That being said, I could see it happening as a desperate gamble for American capitalists, besieged and drowned by Chinese innovation and pushed out of Asia and Africa, to try and slow the decline of their monopoly position in like 20-30 years. But I don't think the benefits outweigh the costs right now. Their empire is certainly in the decay phase but there's still quite a long way down to go before they'd truly have to stoop to the depths of nakedly occupying and cannabalizing their own allies, versus the more "delicate" approach of Biden blowing up their pipelines and creating massive wars to ensure obedience from Europe.

If there is an annexation within the next decade or so, it'll probably be a coup and look very business-as-usual, to the point where popular discontent may not even last; it probably won't look like American tanks driving towards Ottawa in columns. Beyond that timeframe, perhaps an annexation would have to be more forceful as America's position would have declined relative to China and others'.

Nothing ever happens

[–] Caitycat@hexbear.net 36 points 2 days ago

I think Trump is gonna keep trying to get it to happen, but I dont think anything will come from it other than a lot of disgruntled canadians.

[–] hotcouchguy@hexbear.net 22 points 2 days ago

About the same as the odds of Calexit

I've been living under a rock the past few months. Has anything come out with North Koreans in Russia or is that still most likely bullshit?

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 52 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

There's been a bunch of North Korean military equipment spotted within Russia and on the frontlines (ballistic missiles, artillery in long range self propelled guns and multiple rocket launch systems, and air defence systems), and apparently Ukraine managed to capture two North Korean POWs, though obviously that can't be fully verified. So there is some North Korean presence in Kursk, Russia.

But the stories of thousands of North Korean hordes of men storming the trenches in Kursk, enemy at the gates style, and thousands of North Koreans KIA, is just complete nonsense. Most of the North Korean troops in Kursk, as admitted to by even Ukraine's head of intelligence, are artillery and rocket troops, so they won't be at the line of contact. Only a small contingent of the North Korean troops would be there, if they're doing any fighting on the frontlines at all right now. Which is why there's so little evidence from Ukraine of North Korean troops outside of those two POWs they captured, because of the above mentioned reasons.

I don't know if anyone else here has posted about this yet, but in more 'pulling the copper wiring out of the wall' news, the Boer has decided to take down several important data from the CDC and Census websites. These include, but are not limited to, data from CDC PLACES (Population Level Analysis and Community Estimates), the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI), and the Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST). This data is very important for a lot of research and long term planning. I was still able to access CDC PLACES data by using a direct link to the download page, so it is not yet entirely gone. It seams from this article that CDC employees think that the data will eventually return, after it has been altered to become 'politically correct', but I think it would be best to expect them to never return. Much of the data is also still available from 3rd party data conglomeration, although at an extremely high cost for personal use.

Do we think Trump is serious about ethnically cleansing more of the Strip and moving the Gazans out to Egypt or Jordan? I am worried about that coming to pass.

[–] TheLastHero@hexbear.net 75 points 2 days ago

trump may be serious but its never going to happen. He already missed his best opportunity, Gazans are returning north to whats left of their homes yet their attitude appears remarkably steadfast despite the devastation. If years of relentless isntraeli bombardment didn't force them to leave no "deal" trump comes up with is going to convince them to just abandon their land after all this.

Furthermore, the Egyptian government views a Palestinian refugee crisis as an existential threat. Their fragile nation cannot handle a million more destitute, radicalized refugees and they also have the massive war in Sudan to worry about in that regard. Jordan is deeper in the US pocket but it makes even less sense logistically

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 55 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

Even if he is, unless he invades Gaza with American troops there’s nothing he can do about it. Palestinians and the neighboring Arab countries won’t accept mass transfer.

American invasion into Gaza would not be accepted by much of the world. It would be like the Iraq War times ten.

Worst he can realistically do is return to the status quo of war under Biden and revoke the ceasefire

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 41 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah I'm guessing this leads to a "breakdown of the ceasefire" somehow blamed on Hamas, the slaughter will commence.

Meanwhile continue to use this to provoke Iran.

Every American administration has been "serious" about forcibly removing the Palestinians from Gaza and transplanting them in Jordan. That's always been the plan. Ever since the creation of Israel, the fate reserved for the Palestinians (in the minds of Israelis and the dominant world power at the time, first the British and then the USA) has been the same fate the Native Americans faced. Jordan and parts of Egypt, were/are intended to serve the same role as Native American reservations serve in the US, for surviving and displaced Palestinians. Trump is just saying the quiet part out loud there. I think Biden, when his brain turned to pudding, also said something about that by accident.

The question is if it's realistic and feasible to do it, and to do it now. That question will be answered in the coming months. Trump is set to meet with Netanyahu and the King of Jordan this week. So then we'll get our first real answers.

I recommend you look at what Norman Finkelstein has been saying and sadly he has been consistently correct about the developments so far. Yes you should be worried.

IMO as he says Gaza was already going to face a huge challenge rebuilding and with US troops being directly involved it means even more restrictions on aid, I fear even more they'll push a narrative of aiding Hamas and "harming our troops" when anyone tries to provide aid.

As it stands right now Gaza is unlivable or barely livable, US troops on the ground likely only makes this even more certain, yes you should be worried. What matters in Gaza is the destruction of basic infrastructure, the lack of food and medicine etc. If the US troops allow this situation to get worse the population will have to flee, its sad but you should be worried this is a possible scenario.
