Summary

Consumer confidence has declined since Donald Trump’s return to office, with the University of Michigan reporting a drop in sentiment and rising inflation concerns.

Many Trump voters are frustrated by market turbulence and sweeping executive orders. Voter Paul Bisson fears economic instability, saying, “That’s not what we signed up for.”

Geneticist Nicholas Schuch plans to move savings to Swiss Francs, expecting ongoing chaos.

Polls indicate growing anxiety, with some supporters questioning Trump’s policies and their long-term economic impact.

that's really rich. chaos is the reason he got into the office in the first place, and was offering nothing but chaos for 2 years before the election.

[–] ubergeek@lemmy.today 19 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Um, he is doing exactly what he said he would do. These people just thought being white would keep them safe.

[–] phx@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Not even. There are even people in immigrant families that voted for him because "he's only going to deport the bad ones" and then [surprised Pikachu] a bunch of their own family get deported

There's stupid, and there's zealotism, but stupid zealots are the worst

[–] notyourbuddy@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 46 minutes ago

Friend of mine is Mexican living in Texas and voted for him because he thought it would help him get a job. I didn’t ask for more of an explanation but that is the kind of shit we are dealing with.

Bullshit. Trump supporters have no idea what "market turbulence" means and are cheering the executive orders. This is just manipulative feel-good bullshit.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 52 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Bullshit. I live in a red state. They're not turning on him at all. You can always find a couple of people to express any view that you want to amplify and write an article pretending they're representative of their entire group.

[–] Default_Defect@midwest.social 17 points 7 hours ago

Exactly, go to any conservative space and they're just happy that the "libs are getting owned."

[–] Objection@lemmy.ml 9 points 7 hours ago

They really wrote a whole-ass article about two random schmucks lol

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 33 points 9 hours ago

Yes you DID. YES YOU DID!

And it's going to be a whole fuck-ton more than just economic instability, you dumbasses.

[–] UncleGrandPa@lemmy.world 24 points 8 hours ago

no, assholes....this is EXACTLY what you signed up for. revel in it.

you didn't just accept it

you fucking demanded it.

now live with it.

[–] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 59 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (4 children)

Trump voters don't care about these things. they have a completely different rhetorical frame. this article is bullshit. trump voters are liking the chaos a lot because they think its good because they think liberals are bad. all you need to do is follow the usual conservative talking heads if you want to know what they're thinking.

I hate this clickbait feel good happy toxic optimism shit. it doesn't do any good to anyone. this article was only written to keep leftists stupid. downvote this fake garbage.

[–] octopus_ink@lemmy.ml 15 points 8 hours ago

I hate this clickbait feel good happy toxic optimism shit.

Every time I see an article like this, I go check old.shittyplace.com/r/conservative and see nothing but Trump cheerleaders. When the tide starts to change there, I'll believe they might have gained a spark of awareness.

[–] Ahrotahntee@lemmy.ca 22 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The media is publicizing these lies to keep people from getting the idea that they need to do something.

"Oh good his voters are turning on him" helps placate the opposition. It keeps people from wanting to do something.

[–] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

no, they're doing it because it gets you to post the article on Reddit and Lemmy, to your Facebook so you feel like youre winning the debate with your dad.

it's pure nihilism

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 8 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Until they stop admitting to voting for Trump or start outright saying, "We fucked up," this is just nitpicking his priorities.

[–] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

what you are describing is a behavior that is not ascribed to humans

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 12 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I am adjacent to a lot of Trump voters through my wife relating conversations from her 95% Trump voting company. Other than having to stamp out some offensive exuberance, there has been no reaction to any of it. They are just excited about the ascendency of the right and waiting for the "benefits" to percolate through society.

Despite having gay kids they support, etc. Any doubts or second thoughts they are having are not being shared. Could be the network effect of not wanting to be the first to break faith, but that could just as easily be wishful thinking.

[–] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 hours ago

That's correct. they are celebrating 🥳

[–] Itdidnttrickledown@lemmy.world 8 points 8 hours ago

A root cause analysis of these people lead me to draw one conclusion.

THEY ARE DUMBFUCKS!!

[–] spooky2092@lemmy.blahaj.zone 31 points 11 hours ago

"This chaos isn't what I signed up for" says people who voted for chaos goblin who told people he wanted chaos

Get entirely fucked trump voters. As well as the people who told me that BoTh SiDeS aRe ThE sAmE and TrUmP wIlL nOt Be WoRsE tHaN GeNoCiDe JoE oR KiLlEr KaMaLa

[–] Magnus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 8 hours ago

Wow a 5% decline... ... ... ...

[–] sqw@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 7 hours ago

"best we can do is several genocides"

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 6 points 10 hours ago

Chaos is exactly what you signed up for, maybe read the fucking fine print next time.

[–] Shardikprime@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

The perma stun proceeds.

[–] pjwestin@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

I know it's tempting to dunk on these people, but if you know anyone like this, tell them to call their Senator and voice their displeasure. They probably won't listen, and they deserve their, "leopards ate my face," moment, but trying to mobilize them would be far more productive than saying, "told you so."

[–] ubergeek@lemmy.today 1 points 6 hours ago

Unless they are done being class traitors, I hope they starve.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Very good point. I plan on giving the people I know IRL an off-ramp and I will try not to show that I'm judging them. Breaking with a cult is very difficult. Admitting they were wrong about nearly everything is world-shattering.

It's even harder if they think people will just be hostile and tell them how wrong they were, etc. As much as people want to give them no safe harbor, and make them grovel and prostrate themselves before normal Americans and constantly remind them about how much they have hurt others....that's not how the human psyche works. Almost no one is going to return to normalcy for that kind of treatment...

Vote for a grand wizard, expect collateral damage from the fireballs.

[–] niketunic@lemmy.world 107 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

“this isn’t what we signed up for”

literally everyone has been trying to tell you it is

[–] Zero22xx@lemmy.blahaj.zone 32 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

They signed up to make everyone else suffer and now they're shocked and dismayed that they're probably going to suffer too. I feel for everyone that has to share a country with people that would throw them to the wolves first chance they get while demanding unearned respect for themselves. But if I were religious, I'd tell these people to rot in hell.

Seriously, if sanity ever returns to the world, I hope that the lesson we walk away with is that right wingers, conservatives and religious fundies should never be allowed anywhere near positions of power again. Because when they have it, their whole aim is to uplift themselves and only themselves while fucking over everyone else in society.

[–] PorradaVFR@lemmy.world 66 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Narrator: “it was exactly the fuck what they had voted for”.

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 9 points 12 hours ago (1 children)
[–] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 4 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Ron Howard, actually.

The meme is a reference to Arrested Development where Ron Howard is the narrator.

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 5 points 9 hours ago

But now, you can read this... in Morgan, Freemans, voice.

[–] notsoshaihulud@lemmy.world 6 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

No they aren't angry. They give zero fucks and just pull an RFK on Samoa. They will simply not to pay attention to "MSM" if it gets inconvenient, and any present change will be chalked up to Kamala.

Throwback to his first term when one of his supporters said "He's hurting the wrong people!"

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I wonder if anyone has done a "where are they now?" on that guy and tracked him down and found out how he's voted since.

[–] regrub@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

I believe it was a woman who said it. Either way, their motivation for supporting Trump seems to be to cause harm to people they believe deserve it, and the motivation hasn't changed.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 139 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

With all due respect, this is exactly what you all signed up for you stupid fucking pieces of shit.

[–] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 11 hours ago

This is not only what you signed up for, but you signed the rest of us up for it too.

Thanks.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 10 points 12 hours ago

With all due respect

Which is about Zero.

[–] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 24 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

"all due respect"

Not much respect is due here

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 9 points 9 hours ago

Don’t worry, none was given.

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

Strange, because it’s EXACTLY what they signed up for.

[–] sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world 189 points 20 hours ago (8 children)

No. This is exactly what they signed up for. WTAF did they think was going to happen?
