Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

So, I know this isn't a help forum or anything but, being Lemmy I'd think some people are on the same boat as me too.

I got permanently Banned in reddit for vote manipulation, I foolishly and childishly used 2 accounts to up vote myself to make it seem I was winning arguments. I then created a new account to start fresh but I didn't know that counted as a Ban Evasion(I didn't know ban Evasion was a thing), but that got banned too.

I've appealed by apologizing since I am guilty and genuinely sorry , however I'm not a spambot or anything. I made a mistake and just want a second chance.

Is there anything else I can do to start fresh "safely"? (factory reset my android device? I Can't change my external IP tho) Has anyone been on a similar situation and gotten their account reinstated?

Being honest I like Lemmy but it's nowhere near as populated as Reddit, sadly

only way is to use a new device and IP adress, any old and new acc on the same device or ip will result in a immediate ban(after you comment for the first time). also posting in a sub you were banned it will get you banned, since they can detect similarities(of how you posted, voted,,commente din the first place). continued usage with the same methods of creating accs will get you shadowbanned overtime. weve been there before, i was banned from askreddit in an old account for trying to point out a star trek actor for acting like "ellen degeneres"(she wanted the series to center around her). accidentally used an account on the same sub, and got banned whole acc(they dint target all my accs though).

or you can try using a new device/or different browser on a library wifi, or computer.

other than that there are more sophisticated ways, you will have to spend money, but these are usually for people like OF mode/s accs that need multitudes of accounts to promote and earn money. (anti-detect browsers, fingerprint spoofing, proxies, new devices, buying accounts). so its unwise and waste of money if you are just commenting and scrolling through reddit.

did you try appealing your original banned account? sometimes they might unban it if you can "grovel", but any of your new accounts will not be appealed though. additionally reddit has been going hard on banning this month alone.

I had two fairly old reddit accounts (10+ years and 100s or thousands of comments and post karma) get nuked without them giving me a reason. They just said I broke TOS. I appealed and asked what rule I broke and it was instantly denied. I still have no clue what rule I allegedly broke.

I tried making a new account with a different email on a new device using a new Internet connection and it got banned after 30 minutes.

Fuck reddit. Banning people and never giving them a reason or a chance to correct their mistake (if they even made one) is ludicrous.

interesting, were you banned within the last month? they went hard in januarary and last week too, not only you but other people were banned. 2 of acc were banned for similar reason that were 5+years old. simply if they detected you commented in a post (with an old account that you deleted and was previously banned) some or all new ones will get the same ban.

currently 1 of my accs that had the pera ban inbox message isnt really banned? i checked the repeal page and it wont let me repeal because it dint detect a ban in place, which makes me think they actually were banning indiscriminately with an AI, and ive heard people were banned in error too. from what ive heard from a different forum, they were banning in waves since November. also the ban was done by an AI.

I made my Lemmy account the day I got reddit banned. So the age of this account is how long ago they nuked my accounts lol

Well in my case I KNOW I'm guilty, I just want to apologize and see if I can get a second chance eventually

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 10 hours ago

try appealing your original account that got banned, and try once a week even if they reject the first time.

I wouldn't hold your breath. From what I can tell you and I are cooked for good. Oh well.

Here's my two cents for what it's worth - Just embrace the opportunity to leave, have your conversations here and just search Reddit when you need to. That's what I did, it's much less toxic here.

[–] WhiteBurrito@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I can certainly see that, my only gripe is the lack of content tbh :/.

It's odd because I've been on reddit for 10 years and so now I'm chronically bored lol and dunno what to do, it's definitely a sign of change obviously.

You need a hobby. I was addicted to Reddit all the way up until Spez fucked us all with the API thing. Then I migrated to Lemmy and followed my favorite apps that changed into Lemmy apps.

Never looked back, and I started to be less addicted to my phone. Watch more TV shows that I liked and wanted to catch up on. Do some hobby coding. I picked up speed cubing as yet another hobby, but one that I actually practice a lot.

Just get off of Reddit (and Lemmy, tbh) and create your own life content, friend. I use Lemmy when I have no other choice. Like when I'm taking a shit. Sick in bed. Waiting for my tea. Short moments. Much better for the mind.

Best of luck!

Yeah that's exactly what I've been looking into. I honestly could play more video games if I wasn't always on my phone lol. It's tough since it's been years of the muscle memory of scrolling through reddit, but I'm also internally mad that "holy crap why am I letting this app govern my life?"

Yet those stolen art print-on-demand shirt and mug scam networks go completely unscathed.

You sure you want to go back there where 90% of content is a scam, subtle advertising, straight up advertising, karma farming to eventually advertise, ragebait to farm engagement for advertising, all with actual ads in between?

Reddit is not fun, it's addictive. It's addictive because it allows you to feel something other than emptiness, and often has you angry or sad. The good thing about lemmy being small is that you can now do something other than mindless scrolling.

You're free. Do a hobby. Learn something new. Enjoy the extra hours in the day. You're free.
