Can we strip him of earth citizenship and send him to Mars? Preferably without any of the engineers whose work he claims the credit for?

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Any engineer that's willing to go with him I'd happily send alongside. As a developer, tech folks have known he's a piece of shit for more than a decade - people who work for him buy into the same awful beliefs.

Lucky engineer decision:

Space billionaire

Or

SPACE billionaire

When given two options I will always chose the Tim Curry one.

I was thinking more about his survival prospects but ok.

Without massive external support Mars is uninhabitable.

If anybody should strip him of his citizenship, it's the US.

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 month ago

He's not even an American citizen afaik. He's a foreign agent supported by the party of "der terk err jerbs"

Taking away someone's birthright citizenship is literally what Trump wants to be able to do.

Musk was born in South Africa. Why is he a Canadian citizen in the US government?

Musk applied for a Canadian passport through his Canadian-born mother to avoid South Africa's mandatory military service

Oh he wanted to dodge the draft.

probably the best thing I ever heard about this guy

Musk has citizenship by descent, not birthright citizenship. He was born in South Africa.

[–] midnightblue@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

Except he wasn't born in or anywhere near Canada

[–] Windex007@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Yeah. I understand the sentiment, but considering the conservative attempts (and limited successes) of creating tiered citizenship in Canada already... This a is real Pandora's box that we'd be opening, which could actually hurt actual Canadians, to send a message to someone who couldn't care less.

As it should.

Which law does he have a criminal conviction from a federal court of violating to warrant loss of citizenship?

I heard it was a strand of bofadees

[–] healthetank@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago

Very much a stretch, as nothing has happened yet, but according only to the letter of the law, he could fall under the definition of Treason,

(2) Every one commits treason who, in Canada, ... (c) conspires with any person to commit high treason or to do anything mentioned in paragraph (a);

And high treason is defined as:

46 (1) Every one commits high treason who, in Canada,

... (b) levies war against Canada or does any act preparatory thereto; or

(Emphasis mine).

If you really wanted to make the case, Trump's talking about levying war against Canada would be classified as high treason (if he were Canadian).

Literally any communication between Trump and Musk about invading or taking over Canada could be construed as treason. I have a hard time believing they *haven't * talked about it.

Doesn't matter.

A country can do whatever the fuck they want.

People often forget this.
