Coming from the post about Ukrainian knives I would like to have a post similar to the Jeans post the other day.

Outdoor knives are more of a niche topic, but it plays well with some of my outdoor hobbies and knowing your options is also fun, so please keep em coming.

I was going to recommend Gerlach from Poland but damn, it seems they’re now only into kitchen knives?

Back in my youth literally every scout boy would be running around with their „finka” (translates to Finnish woman, IDK why) knife.

Contribution from my cool boss who is a knife enthusiast:

Belgium has both cultra.be and https://atelier185.be/, the first really high quality

My father has one from bulgarian https://duloknives.com/, very nice

I've seen these several times, however, not owned one unfortuantely https://www.anvknives.com/ they are Czech

Austria's very nifty craftsman: https://www.lilienstahl.com/

We have own own Danish riceknife.dk very small very praised

Other than Fiskars in Finland there is also roselli.fi very cool hunting/outdoor knifes, I have one

The name is not protected, so there is many Laguiole, but this is the original: forge-de-laguiole.com sp nice

Then there is German Zwilling and Wüsthof of course, not that sexy but German

On the obvious list we have Victorinox huge and comercial from Switzerland

Then a very old and very renowned Norwegian one is https://helle.com/

Spanish arcos.com is also very famous and respected

Thanks to you and your cool boss. Do you also have a not so cool boss, too?

I actually have 2 cool bosses. The other one is a hacker with ties (but I believe not membership) with the CCC, who has worked helping establish humanitarian tech companies in Africa and who self-hosts whatever he can.

France: https://tb-outdoor.com/

The company that forge the CAC, the French army knife. Very good one for camping. Corkscrew included 😁

I am honoured to have been helpful with my initial post. I'm a happy owner of a Varusteleka Jääkäripuukko 140 (FIN), a BPS Knives Savage CSH (UKR), a Victorinox Sentinel and a Victorinox Spartan (CHE), and some glorious Opinels: n°09 Carbone, n°09 Inox, n°12 Carbone (FRA)

I still haven't a Mora Companion, a classic among classics to have. But I'm not that deep into scandi grind. Anyway I always think about it

Finland:
Marttiini

Germany:
Solinger Messer

Switzerland:
Victorinox
Wenger

I usually always also recommend a knife manufacturer from El Salvador, but I won't, cause they do the US' dirty work right now.

[–] SrMono@feddit.org 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Ehm, there ain't any knives on Wenger's website.

Maybe Victorniox Wenger → a small pocket knife series?

[–] superkret@feddit.org 2 points 5 days ago

Just read up on it. Wenger has split off their knife department, which belongs to Victorinox now.
