People still use that term too, but the R-word can be a bit triggering to a lot of people, I think it helps to have a different term to call it that emphasizes that it really is consensual even though the fantasy you're playing out is that it isn't
Saying rapeplay is also a thing. But CNC is usually broader

Every time I see EDM thrown around my brain reads it as Electronic Death Metal. I know that's not what it means, but I wish it did.

I was a CNC operator for years before I heard the other meaning for CNC. Now when I see online discussions about CNC all I can think is "that slutty Mazak".

I work as an accountant and my old boss - younger than me, mind you - always abbreviated the intercompany accounts (Due to/From) as DTF. To this day I have no idea if he was trolling us or really had not heard the acronym used, he never once broke.

I used to work at IBM. We have used all of them, including letters, numbers, special characters, whistles and cartoon characters.
