There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

On Friday is May 9th, which is the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, which Russia, among other places, celebrates as the day when the Soviets defeated the Nazis. Naturally, one of the current hotspots of fascism in the world today, Ukraine, is essentially threatening that they might strike Russia or even Moscow itself during that timeframe. Any such strike would almost certainly be symbolic and not aimed at anything too important, as I doubt even Zelensky and his American handlers would actually want to kill a world leader, not least somebody like Xi Jinping. But I would not be surprised if they tried something nonetheless, if only to disrupt the event in some way and not actually kill anybody.

And, as we're on this topic, @EllenKelly@hexbear.net has reminded me that Tuesday is the anniversary of the Nazis burning the Institut für Sexualwissenschaf in 1933, an early institute advocating for the rights of LGBT people, and which also provided early forms of gender-affirming surgeries, as well as hormone therapies. We are currently seeing a crackdown on LGBT rights throughout swathes of the imperial core (as well as countries in the periphery, to the extent that those rights existed there already), and this Nazi-inspired movement will be similarly defeated in the future.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

They made a commitment and that we're close to them and their surrogates. And we honor all of their words. We'll see what happens. But I think, you know, I believe that hopefully that's over with and they'll leave the ships alone. Leave those ships alone. But so we do. We take their word for it. It was you know, we hit them very hard. They had a great capacity to withstand punishment. They took tremendous punishment. And, you know, you could say there's a lot of bravery there that it's like it was amazing what what they took. But we honor their commitment. Where's the best place to read NAFO cope about J-10s shooting down Rafales?

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 28 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

NAFO has resorted to making fun of India rather than cope about a Rafale being shot down. The rest are sobering up, finally waking up to the reality that they need stealth/low observability and 5th generation capabilities, and no amount of electronic self protection/jamming systems on 4th or 4.5 generation aircraft makes up for a lack of stealth, despite all the copium from European nations that don't have F-35s about how their aircraft's self protection systems are equivalent to stealth. Bad news for Europe: their domestic stealth 5.5+ generation fighter is at least a decade away, the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP). FCAS is even worse, 15 years away.

Think both India and France learned a valuable lesson last night after the most modern air-to-air engagement in history so far. France should swallow their pride and procure 5th gen and longer range air to air. India has AMCA (5th generation aircraft prototype). Would benefit from attritables like CCA (Collaborative Combat Aircraft, combat drones that operate alongside manned aircraft).

The comments section of this article is also decent

We need to get comfortable with Chinese systems working as advertised and the age of legacy jets waning. Up to five jets downed should be a wakeup call, even if its just India

Saying "this could never happen to us" because it's not white people it happened to, real russo-japanese war moment.

I mean they have a point about Indian Air Force incompetency (not the racist stuff and undertones, obviously), they lost over half of their 840 MiG 21s in accidents, with 200 pilots being killed, but still even with a poorly trained pilot at the controls, the Rafale's self protection system is supposed to provide detection and dispensing of countermeasures. It's failure cannot be explained by incompetence. France was saying it's just as good or even better than stealth/low observability.

The SPECTRA integrated electronic warfare suite provides long range detection, identification and accurate localisation of Infrared, electro-magnetic and laser threats. The system incorporates: radar warning, laser warning and missile warning receivers for threat detection plus a phased array radar jammer and a decoy dispenser for threat countering. It also includes a dedicated management unit for data fusion and reaction decision.

MBDA’s involvement comprises the DDM-NG (IR technology) missile warning system, a special management unit for threat level assessment and multi-threat decoy dispensers with a smart dispensing facility. SPECTRA provides Rafale with the highest survivability assets against the range of airborne and ground-based threats.

Clearly not, and clearly no substitute for stealth/low observability.

French official says Pakistan downed Rafale jet as officials examine possible further losses - CNN

A high-ranking French intelligence official told CNN today that one Rafale fighter jet operated by the Indian Air Force was downed by Pakistan, in what would mark the first time that one of the sophisticated French-made warplanes has been lost in combat.

Pakistan claimed earlier today to have shot down five Indian Air Force jets in retaliation for Indian strikes, including three Rafales. Indian officials are yet to respond to the claim.

The French official told CNN that French authorities were looking into whether more than one Rafale jets were shot down by Pakistan overnight.

Pictures taken of parts of an aircraft that crashed in Indian-administered Kashmir show the label of a French manufacturer, but experts said it was not possible to say whether the part came from a Rafale aircraft.

Dassault Aviation, the French manufacturer of the jet, has not responded to CNN’s requests for comment.

BBC reporting on preparations for the Victory Day parade was mostly predictable (no mention of Zelensky threatening to do terrorism, a bunch of snark about how Russia has been 'unable to secure victory in Ukraine', criticising Russia for militarism right before a news segment about how awesome Churchill was and how we won WW2 single-handedly etc etc blah blah blah) but strangely they were quite positive about the WW2 Red Army - I presume to try and build a narrative of "Russia fought the Nazis before but now they are the freaking Nazis we live in a society" - but I expect it's still going to make a lot of terminally Reform UK brained gammons who think the BBC is leftist and hack pop historians mad. Feels strange to see a BBC journalist interviewing Red Army veterans and their relatives and not constantly doing Office Jim asides to the camera, which shows how low the bar really is.

President Maduro and President Putin sign "Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Cooperation" between Russia and Venezuela. Not sure details.

https://t.me/news_kremlin_eng/5424

[–] RedStarOS@hexbear.net 18 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

According to Telesur:

During the meeting between Maduro and Putin, the discussion agenda included topics related to boosting joint investments in oil, gas, and mining, as well as the creation of an independent financial infrastructure to facilitate trade and investment without relying on Western systems.

They were also expected to discuss cooperation within OPEC+ and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, which could include expanding direct air traffic between the two countries and collaborating on outer space exploration through the GLONASS ground station project in Venezuela.

The meeting agenda also covers cooperation in healthcare, the training of health professionals, vaccine development, and exchanges in scientific research and technological innovation.

Joint development in the areas of security and defense, as well as technical-military cooperation, and a shared condemnation of the resurgence of fascism, were also be key topics for discussion.

I have to admit, the Trump White House continuing to enable the Ukrainians while putting Israel on a relative back foot is not something I would have predicted even a week ago. I don't know how a doofus like Zelensky is proving to be better at manipulating Trump than Netanyahu of all people.

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 27 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (2 children)

like Zelensky

Wasn't he like an actor and a comedian before becoming a politician? He probably had more in common with Trump than polish-israeli Hitler

[–] Sinisterium@hexbear.net 3 points 22 minutes ago (1 children)

Netanyahu was born in Philadelphia, not Poland.

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 13 points 3 hours ago

He was and he even had a show where he became president years before he actually become one.

Wine and dine + ego stroking based foreign policy is here to stay. Zionists might actually be too arrogant to do anything other than threaten and bribe.

[–] WeedReference420@hexbear.net 35 points 5 hours ago

I've essentially given up trying to predict Trump administration foreign policy at this point as it seems entirely based on which tall handsome general or lobbyist is impressing him this week

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 22 points 4 hours ago

I mean ukraine is just good business for usa, material interests asserting themselves yada-yada. (and russian military not knowing what they are doing)

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 46 points 5 hours ago (11 children)

The Indian copium on social media about losing four flighter jets during an attack they started themselves is ridiculous, I've never seen anything like it. It makes Ukrainian NAFO and Zelensky cope seem normal by comparison. Modi supporters and bots are just spamming community notes, and official India government accounts are calling everything "disinformation".

[–] jackmaoist@hexbear.net 7 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I have been living in this hell for 10+ years now. The best way to use Indian Social Media is to not touch it at all.

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 7 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

I feel sorry for the Indian people that can see through the government propaganda. These social media users are straight up painful to deal with. I can't imagine what they're like in real life, the Modi cult is something else. Chinese OSINT accounts with a few hundred followers had to lock comments to prevent endless spam. If they're prepared to harass a random Chinese nobody on twitter, the Modi cult must actually be dangerous in the real world. Stay safe.

[–] jackmaoist@hexbear.net 6 points 55 minutes ago

Modi cult must actually be dangerous in the real world.

It is very dangerous to dissent in India if you're living in BJP run states. The police will not protect you and Hindu Fascist Groups are free to lynch you to death and the media will not even address the issue because it's owned by the same billionaires that leech money form the country with Modi's blessing.

[–] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 15 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Reminder that CTH got banned the same week India changed J&Ks status, and the post in the sub showed up as the top in reddit search and was overly negative of India (obviously). I maintain to this day RSS posters mass reported the sub which lead to the banning.

[–] CarmineCatboy2@hexbear.net 25 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

the way online indian news seems to react to, well, everything i'd expect them to have a tough choice ahead. either this is ww3 or nothing has ever happened, ever. nothing in between.

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 18 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (1 children)

Definitely going for the nothing ever happens route for now, India lost at least four aircraft carrying out nine stand off strikes, and Pakistan has yet to respond...

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 8 points 2 hours ago

Really hope India takes the tit for the tat and decides to back off

[–] PosadistInevitablity@hexbear.net 35 points 5 hours ago

All that unhinged posting just for French intelligence to be like “yeah some got shot down”.

[–] egg1918@hexbear.net 33 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

None has been shot down yet

Lmao

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 22 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

In response to a news story about a French official saying, "yes, at least one Rafale was shot down" lmao. Even the people arming India are calling out their incompetence, likey to cover themselves and their product.

Even more embarrassing, one of the Rafales shot down was the first one ever delivered to India, look at the tail number:

[–] jackmaoist@hexbear.net 6 points 1 hour ago

The current Indian news landscape is just 100% pure government bootlicking and if you question the government then you might get lynched or cancelled.
