Summary

Trump lashed out at bipartisan critics after reports revealed he plans to accept a $400 million Boeing 747-8 jet from Qatar for use as Air Force One.

In a Truth Social post, Trump dismissed concerns as “world class losers” complaining about a transparent gift. Qatar stated the plane is under legal review between its Ministry of Defense and the Pentagon.

Critics, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Chris Murphy, and Rep. Jamie Raskin, accused Trump of corruption and violating the Constitution.

Even allies like Laura Loomer led the MAGA pushback to the jet deal.

Hope he paid the 10% tarrif on that $400 mil plane being shipped here from another country lol

[–] jojowakaki@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

I saw it in some xitter screenshot. The tariff was the 5.5 billion golf course on his name.

Tariffs for thee, not for me.

[–] jimjam5@lemmy.world 11 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Maybe we will get lucky and he’ll invite musk and other billionaire backers into the plane for its first official flight, at which point Boeing plane does what it does best coupled with a crippled FAA… one can dream.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 2 points 5 hours ago

I would like that. Reminds me of that time when 16 Russian admirals bit the dust due to their grift...

Corrupt piece of shit.

[–] Emil_Zatopek1982@lemmy.world 13 points 9 hours ago

He ain't got no mind to lose.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 16 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

First of all, he is not "losing his mind". You cannot lose what you already lost decades ago.

[–] comeonitsnotlike@feddit.nu 4 points 11 hours ago

I'd go even further. You can't lose what you've never had.

[–] Mio@feddit.nu 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Of course he cannot accept it. It is not American made. We know American first. And then think of all the tariffs he would need to pay for it!

[–] deltapi@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

747-8...

not American made

No...that's not the problem.

So....is anyone not thinking that the plane is absolutely chock full of spying devices? I mean sure Trump is too stupid to think of it as anything other than a tribute to his greatness but is there a single sane person there?

[–] aeroplayne@lemm.ee 11 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, this jet is going to have more bugs than a rainforest. It will be hilarious and compromising.

[–] fake_meows@lemm.ee 6 points 10 hours ago

And just wait until he starts keeping classified documents in the airplane lavatory next to the photocopier.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 10 points 12 hours ago

i dont think you need to bug trumps planes, he has a big mouth and will say anything for money.

[–] fnrir@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 11 hours ago

There probably is, hence "bipartisan critics"

[–] ThraawnSolo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 10 hours ago

The ol' Trojan plane trick...gets em' everytime.

[–] wildcardology@lemmy.world 14 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

No need for spying devices, he's for sale they can just buy the info they need.

[–] jojowakaki@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I can't remember did I actually read it or hallucinated it, but I remember something about trump "selling" (auctioned?) "dinner with Trump" events and most of the tickets are bought out by "foreign influence". He is clearly selling "chance to influence trump over dinner" tickets knowingly.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 11 hours ago

Yea the auction ended yesterday.

[–] FireAtWill@lemmy.world 19 points 15 hours ago

One man's beautiful gift is almost everyone else's blatant corruption.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 38 points 20 hours ago

Alternative headline: "Spoiled child throws tantrum when told No."

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 6 points 14 hours ago (3 children)

What the fuck? Trump ordered new AF1 and 2 from Boeing not long ago.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 4 points 12 hours ago

1 is used for secret communications with RUSSIA, msb, and qatari.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 5 points 13 hours ago

He ordered them in his first term. They are currently slated to enter into service in 2029.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 2 points 13 hours ago

I am kinda hoping that Grand Theft Aviation happens, with AOC and Bernie leading Free America from those two jets.

Loses his mind? Well, that's redundant.

[–] wuphysics87@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 hours ago

Can't lose what you never had 🙂

[–] fwdbias@lemm.ee 4 points 17 hours ago

No it's impossible

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 86 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So trump now owes Qatar a 400 billion dollar favor, it's that simple

(For those not getting it, it's a jab at doge mixing up million and billion)

That constitution is becoming a real barrier for Trump.

[–] TheCriticalMember@aussie.zone 10 points 19 hours ago

Is it though?

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 217 points 1 day ago (24 children)

Besides the obvious corruption, it's a national security issue. I'm not an aircraft designer, but I'm pretty sure there's quite a bit of electronics aboard that craft. Pretty easy to slip in a few listening devices.

People just aren't considering the arguments in favor of accepting it, such as how cool it would be to receive what might be the biggest bribe in the history of bribery.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 hours ago

Is 400 million more than Kushner got from the Saudis for his apartment buildings?
