I daytrade for income while looking for stable work. I joined a trading Discord group recently and today found most of the regulars are BIG MAGA fans.

Of course they think they're right about everything and everyone else is wrong. No examination of why other people may think like them.

Little do they know a spectre is haunting their Discord lenin-laugh

These people might be in a different class than me 🤔

Someone has Trump derangement syndrome...

Having empathy for other people, and a lifetime of experience to build that empathy, doesn't matter to chuds. Only "muh egg prices"

Is daytrading a viable side hustle? I was always told it was essentially gambling.

it is. and the people who do it are like those guys who hang out at the track or OTB joints and claim to "have a system".

you can do just as well investing in ETFs and never looking at your portfolio. Day trading for money you need right now is probably doable if you have some money to start with. But even then your gains are small, and i imagine many times the stocks are bought and sold so fast that the taxes are higher on them.

Everything in life is gambling.

Yes, people make real money daytrading. Most traders fail but there is a small number that succeed. The biggest lesson I learned recently is to manage risk properly and use correct position sizing. Make sure no one trade can wipe out your account!

My brain is broken, I thought that TDS stood for Total Dissolved Solids for a second.

Use TDS when you speak to them but make it clear that you're referring to them with "trans derangement syndrome"

Anyone who’s unironically written out the phrase “we can always tell” has a terminal case of TDS

A system is what it does! Maybe she is reachable but IDK how to introduce some Socialism 101 without becoming a pariah in the group.

Rather than going straight for espousing Marxism, try pushing a “sober realism” perspective. That successful day trading means being honest about how the sausage gets made in capitalism and if you’re working off the fairy tale version they tell kids about how it works, you’ll get burned.
