The air was cold, the water burned, but the two trudged on through the storm. The smaller one pushed forward through the undergrowth with athleticism and purpose. The larger plodded steady and stable; following the first without a Joule of energy wasted. They reached a road, wide and navigable, but several years past what should've been regularly scheduled maintenance. After following it briefly, the larger figure raises an index finger at an overgrown side road flaked by the vague remains of a fence. There they find what they were seeking; abandoned, cold, slightly smelly, but dry.
Inside, Miranda quickly takes off her hood, shaking out her short curly hair. She darts around the house, checking all the amenities and identifying all the loot. Angel takes a brief look around before carefully removing her own soaked outer layer, hanging it carefully by the door.
"Hot shit, we got running water!" yells Miranda from another room.
"We still need to purify." retorts Angel, setting up a portable lantern and clearing the chimney of critters. "Go hang up your coat before you get this place as wet as here!"
Miranda bounces into the room, diving into her pack with excitement. "I'm still calling dibs on the shower! Well water has to beat out there anyways." Angel shakes her head as she fiddles with the fire. However, when she turns around, she catches an eyefull of Miranda, pulling several layers over her head at once, her slender body glistening with sweat and rain. Angel stares long enough for their eyes to meet. Miranda grins wide, Angel looks away but smiles.
"I'll take one after you. Can I trust you with the bedding?"
Miranda giggles. "Only if you have a five course meal for me when I'm out of the shower."
"With how long you take?" Angel looks her dead in the eye. "I'll have dessert for you."
They laugh.
"I have high expectations then madam," Miranda says with an awful British accent. "Very high indeed."
