I heard that he even was in a police car. He had a badge and taser and vest etc... it really does feel like it actually is a police officer

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

He ran a security business.

A reporter who saw the vehicle said that it would look like a police vehicle from a distance and at night, but during the day it looked off, like you'd think 'that might not be a real cop'.

And they've identified the suspect and he's not a cop.

New information shows it was a security company run by evangelicals that he worked for. So his vehicle likely was intentionally looking like police. Could even have lights on top. And they could wear uniforms, carry most anything a cop can, the badge would be different, but at 2am..

Edit: the vehicle did have lights, and a ram on the front like police SUVs have. Also a photo of him shows him looking like an officer. Long navy sleeves, black vest with lights/utility

This isn't just assassination, it's terrorism designed to scare opponents of Trump from speaking out. The media won't say that, of course, because it's likely the shooter is white.

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 19 points 19 hours ago

The shootings are the latest in a string of seemingly lone-wolf politically motivated violence.

Good grief, could they whitewash this any harder?

[–] HurlingDurling@lemm.ee 58 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Exactly that. Also, don't forget that every chance they get they say "a man posing as a police officer" and they then describe that he was dressed exactly like a cop including a badge and cop car

Anyone want to bets that it was a Nazi who did the shooting?

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 48 points 1 day ago (22 children)

He was dressed as a cop, driving a police car, wearing a blue uniform, and a bulletproof vest.

It's on the news in Belgium.

[–] Zenith@lemm.ee 9 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

I’m curious, how are they reporting it?

"They will be prosecuting anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law," Trump said in a statement. "Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America."

Ah, like they did with the violent perpetrators of the January 6th insurrection, until you pardoned them all and set them free.

[–] My_IFAKs___gone@lemmy.world 63 points 1 day ago

Wonder if the perp will turn out to be a pardoned j6er...

Reporting in from Minnesota: State law enforcement is now telling everybody "Do not show up to No Kings Day Events"

[–] LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 65 points 23 hours ago (3 children)

Sen. Walz posted on Bluesky for people to not go to protests and there were 400 comments of mostly people saying they were going anyways. Was nice to see.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 35 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Walz is governor. His statement is intentional. He needs to be seen as "giving good advice".

He knows it won't stop anyone. Just like during the George Floyd protests. He knows what he's doing.

I'm going to call the soon to be obvious 'gunman shot by police/himself or hung himself with his hands tied behind his back'. Nothing more to see here.

the slain lawmaker as State Rep. Melissa Hortman of Brooklyn Park and her husband, Mark, while state Sen. John Hoffman of Champlin and his wife, Yvette, were injured. Both lawmakers were members of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party. [...] The assailant, who is still at large, allegedly impersonated a police officer.

My support and sympathy to the families. Absolutely no surprise at any of that news.

"We have to remain non-violent"

Meanwhile, the far right nutjobs

[–] 13igTyme@lemmy.world 45 points 1 day ago (5 children)

"impersonating" a police officer. Yup, on the largest protest day ever. No need to think more about it. Surely it wouldn't be an actual cop using a scapegoat, nope .
