what’s the most disturbing movie/film you’ve ever watched, even if you didn’t finish it.

Requiem for a dream, the original old boy, Ichi the killer. Just the first ones that come to mind.

Salo was pretty messed up! The August Underground series as well.

I couldn’t finish The Girl Next Door (I think there’s another one based on the same events by a different name as well) when I tried to watch it when I was younger. I can watch anything fucked up or gory, but it was just heartbreaking to watch.

The girl next door is a comedy, I'm guessing you meant something else?

There’s also a thriller one with the same name hahaha

Edit: 2007!

E. Elias Merhige's Begotten.

And no, after countless attempts, I never did finish it.

Wasn't aware of this, looks interesting.

Cannibal Holocaust and Dominion because I hate seeing animals getting actually murdered/tortured

But I also don't like watching it when it's fake either tbh

Irréversible

Bone Tomahawk has some of the most realistic and disturbing torture and violence I've ever seen on film. I went into it expecting a hard boiled western but its a straight up horror movie. Excellent film though, very underrated.

A Serbian Film or The audition

That's the winner hands down.

A Serbian Film

Just reading the plot summary was distrubing for that one. It shall remain forever unwatched.

Smart, i too wish i could be on your side of the table. If I could go back to my teenage self who wanted to be edgy and tell him to turn back I would have if he would have ever listened.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen someone else mention this movie.

My college roommate had a hangup on this movie, so I ended up watching it a few times.

Come and See (1985)

I found The Babadook deeply unsettling. I could never quite predict where the protagonist was going or what she was capable of. The creeping dread of ‘will she harm her child and blame this delusion?’ dominated the viewing for me.

Probably the only film I’ve ever literally watched from behind my fingers

Eraserhead did massive damage when I was ~17 years old.
