A Norwegian tourist has accused American authorities of denying him entry into the U.S. because he had a popular meme of JD Vance saved on his phone.

Mads Mikkelsen, 21, told his hometown newspaper Nordlys that he was subjected to “abuse of power and harassment” by officials at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Mikkelsen claims that immigration officials stopped him for questioning and quizzed him “about drug trafficking, terrorist plots, and right-wing extremism,” all of which he said was “totally without reason.” He says he was placed in a holding cell.

Hannibal/Le Chiffre/Clifford Unger was denied entry? And he's only 21?! Also I thought he was Danish.

was subjected to “face eating” by leopards in the leopard cage.

I think I know what you are trying to say - if you visit the Fascist States of America right now you shouldn’t be surprised when the fascists go fascist on you - but this is still arguably a misuse of the face-eating leopards idiom, since he was never a leopard supporter.

Does this picture count as a meme too? Because Vance also looks weird and creepy in it

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

That's just how he looks.

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 4 points 7 hours ago

He's just demonstrating how he got the job

The World Cup is going to be fun to watch with all the empty stadiums.

Matches in Canada and Mexico should have full houses. I wish more of the matches took place outside the US for all the players safety.

Hopefully the regime won’t have the forethought to pack the stands ahead of time.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 2 points 9 hours ago

Did you see the parade? That was after people spotted ads for crowd fillers in the wild

This administration struggles to organize anything

Tourist “claims”???? American journalists still refusing to give the people the benefit of the doubt, but whenever trump and his regime lies through their fucking teeth, they NEVER use verbiage like “claims”

He also answered when asked about recreational drug use that he has tried weed a couple of times in places where it's legal and had a picture of a homemade pipe on his phone. Which Also shouldn't be a problem, but it wasn't necessarily the Vance pic that got him turned away.

[–] Peer@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

What would have been a better headline? There is no way to verity the story. The actual reason might be different. Also there are plenty “Trump claims” headlines.

[–] ItDoBeHowItDoBe@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

The officials have come out and said that they refused him entry for admitted drug use. This same thing would keep you out of a lot of countries.

Another example of why you shouldn't go to that shithole.

Boycott World Cup in person!

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 9 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Boycott the whole fucking country.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 6 points 20 hours ago

This! I’m Native American and this country should have been boycotted after 1777. And being honest we’ve been at war since 1493.

[–] eddanja@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

America is not totally a terrible place. Some of the cities are nice.

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 20 hours ago

No doubt, but the only thing I can do is hurt their wallets.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Vance needs to do Mac’s part in Charlie’s musical.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 4 hours ago

I feel like he got called out early for the eye shadow, and now feels like he has to put it on now for the rest of his life so he doesn't have to admit it's not natural.

[–] nokturne213@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He is going for the gasps.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

You gotta pay the troll toll if you wanna get into that sofa's hole.
