I'm looking for games that have a role like "watch the cameras and warn the people inside the house about things going on" that Phasmophobia offers. My wife enjoys playing that sort of role, she doesn't want to go inside the house/school/prison. The new media changes are great for her.

Are there any other games out there that have a sort of overseer role like that?

Lethal Company is pretty similar in that you can monitor teammate activities from the relative safety of the ship and warn them of any incoming dangers, and even teleport them out if needed.

So a lot of the new stuff in Phasmaphobia is actually taken from a game that can't afterwards called Ghost Watchers. I think you might want to look into that game.

I play phasmo in psvr 2 so my mind went to VR games. One of my favorites that is trapped on PS4 psvr1 is the persistence. (The enhanced it for ps5, Xbox, and PC but that version doesn't support the companion app). There is an app a 2nd player can use to guide you to resources, distract the monsters, or alternatively fuck with you by turning off the lights etc. https://m.apkpure.com/the-persistence/com.firesprite.persistence

Not specifically horror, but "Operation Tango" and "Keep talking and nobody explodes" both have a similar dynamic that you're referring to.

Does she like an "assist" type role in games rather than lead? Or the communication? Or different people with different jobs?

You can technically do this in Lethal Company, but since there's no permanent way of communicating on long distances in game (you have to get items for this), it could be a bit frustrating at first. Maybe some mods enable it though.
