This should be up top. I wish I could prioritise comments with keywords in voyager.

I’m super curious what keyword would have helped here?

[–] voodooattack@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

web.archive.org and theverge.com, reuyers.com, etc. a regular expression would be even better

The problem, they found, was in the asking.

reviewed by a “handful of specially trained members of our Community Operations team,”

meaning people in Africa working for $2 an hour, like their mod staff

The "cloud" gambit worked after all.

Lol. Surprise!

And, no one is surprised. Or, at least, no one should be.

The only way to have some solid privacy on the internet is TOR. At least for the moment. You can use TOR to browse non onion sites, but many sites are completely broken now without Javascript. If you enable javascript on TOR you might as well just use Chrome.

Privacy in phone apps is not a thing, that's the whole point of phone apps, to monetize your data.

Hmmm. Might be time to put it in "Island" - or at least only give it specific photo access.
Same with WhatsApp. Just have to get used to sharing to the app rather than from the app.

If you have any Zuckerberg products installed on your phone, all of your browsing behavior is being tracked. These apps should never be installed.

That's why I suggested 'island' since it's pretty close to a sandbox for those apps.

As far as iPhone goes, you can make it so it only spies on this specific app.

Source: I’m currently testing on a seperate phone what kind of things one has to do in order to make the phone listen to what you say and give you ads. I do this by starting with maximum security and lowering it

The method revealed in my comment's link bypasses app permissions in the phone OS.

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 5 points 2 weeks ago

Ah good point with WhatsApp. I'm going to check those permissions right now (unfortunately I can't afford not using it)
