I think that he gets a lot of hate, but you have to admit that it's really impressive to switch directions so often and fast without any spine.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 28 points 2 days ago (1 children)

A snake moves left to right back and forth, over and over, just to make an inch of progress in the direction they want to go.

[–] floo@retrolemmy.com 23 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yet, snakes still have a spine.

Nah...they kinda like....undulate.... hydrostatically? Tbh I can't really remember a whole lot of 9th grade bio. They definitely don't squiggle the same way as snakes....more of a piston....y.... motion.....idfk

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The first person to make an Elon=Oceanman joke gets an icepick to the kidneys

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 40 points 2 days ago (2 children)

tfw this drugged out fuckwit gets more press for shitting on trump than the entirety of the Democratic party.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Because the other billionaires who own the media really really really want to avoid progressives accomplishing anything.

So now that neoliberals are out of control of the DNC, the media isn't going to have many good things to say about the DNC.

I'd say that's obviously, but holy shit some days I feel like I'm explaining it to the same 12 people who just can't fucking grasp that billionaire owned media favors billionaires.

Like, could you imagine someone falling for that dumb shit and getting mad at anyone other than the fucking Nazi in your gif and the media system defending fascism

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That’s partly because unlike Democrats, he’s actually speaking out and taking a contrarian stance on topics.

When he thought he could work with Trump, he went all-in. Now that he realizes that two narcissists will always have conflicting goals, he’s all-in on fighting Trump.

The Democrats, on the other hand, have mostly spent this time saying “let’s discuss working together to come to an agreeable compromise” while doing not much that’s actually useful one way or the other.

Elon may be politically inept and only looking out for his own interests, but he does know how to grab the public’s attention and how to force people to act.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Find me the quotes where Democrats say let's come to an agreeable compromise and I'll match them with Democrat quotes actually speaking out and taking a contrarian stance on topics. Heck I'll triple them.

The issue is that corporate news sewers do not care about the public's interest or a healthy government. They care about money, and Elmo stories generate money.

That's why the Democrats have to start lighting some shit on fire.

I haven't kept up with the plot this season. Trump's nemesis is still Biden right? Or did Obama somehow return?

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It's a Republican that's not voting how trump wants, specifically the budget.

So trump made an entire PAC to primary him, now Musk is backing him against Trump's pac.

And apparently Musk is gonna make a 3rd party if the budget passes?

Which would be amazing. If Musk and Trump both have their own parties, it just splits the Republican vote. Regardless of policy, no one is switching from D to either of those asshats.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

no one is switching from D to either of those asshats.

Well, hopefully very few. I mean, not that long ago, we had the whole Jill Stein thing....

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

If Stein had never run, there's a percentage of Greens who would've voted Democrat instead.

I think there's a huge difference between what Greens and Democrats think that percentage is.

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It won't split the GOP vote, though. Musk already went down this path a few weeks ago and literally every politician sided with Trump. For all the money he has, the only political influence he ever had was through Trump. Nobody in the GOP cared about or even liked the guy beyond that.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

For all the money he has, the only political influence he ever had was through Trump.

No, you're right ..

I completely forgot money doesn't play a roll in the American political system

/S

Like, what kind of logic are you using that makes you think money just doesn't fucking matter?

Especially in Republican primaries?

I dunno, maybe there's some I missed, but what you just said....

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Did you pay any attention to the last time Musk tried this? It was only a couple of weeks ago that he threatened virtually the same thing: To make an anti-Trump conservative party in order to take him on. And the entire GOP basically laughed in his face, many of them openly to the press. Lose the backhanded sarcasm, it's neither funny nor impressive.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago

No, no...

Clearly you're right! How the fuck could I think that Republican politicians could be bought*.

Those great upstanding citizens who always put their personal profit last.

In Obama II: Birth Certificate Boogaloo, they find the long form version of the birth certificate and he becomes Super Kenyan, where he eats all the dogs and cats in the neighborhood before pretending he will get single payer health care passed.

[–] False@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Thanks Obama

If he tries to run a third term, I always thought it would be hilarious if Obama ran against him. Like, he'd absolutely win.

[–] BlurryBits@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 days ago

You didn't hear? They have recast John Simm to play The Master..

[–] WarlordSdocy@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

No I think it's one of the representatives that voted against his bill.

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 days ago

Trump's Nemesis? That would be a socialist. A very decent and articulated socialist.

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 days ago

Like Zohran?

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

This is why kids should learn impulse control.

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Elon Musk has promised to donate to Rep. Thomas Massie’s re-election campaign as the Kentucky Republican faces down the wrath of Donald Trump.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

for a second there, I thought he was gonna donate to Obama or something.

eh. that'd be something.

[–] TheAlbatross@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 2 days ago

The writers at The Daily Beast have such a talent for hyperbole.

Mom, the billionairs are using their wealth to manipulate who gets elected again.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

It's all distraction. Once the bigly budget passes, they'll be back to circle jerks and sleepovers with Fox on the teeveez.
