Who'sa gonna buy all this chianti?!

anti-italian-action

gabagool, carbanara, and marinara futures implode.

but less jokingly, the Italians are the global leaders in small scale "walk behind" tractor manufacturing, and have been for decades.

it's "niche", but if you know people who are heavy into that 1-5 acre, diversified vegetable on marginal land scene, odds are good that they have or want a BCS or a Grillo and has an intuitive route to get one ordered and delivered from a reliable distributor who can do repairs and maintenance. the second hand market in the US for 30 year old BCS's is strong still, meaning they keep their value.

the US equipment manufacturers ignore this segment of Ag (toros are pieces of shit and meant for hobbyists/landscrapers) and Japan seems more focused in its ag equipment exports to larger scales systems, mirroring the US. the Kubota smallest primary tillage equipment is like the B series, which is awesome and fun, but massive and far less maneuverable compared to like a Grillo G110.

there are really interesting videos of things being developed in China, because they take vegetables more seriously than anyone and their average farm size bas long been in that 2-4 acre range, but the importing is still academic/experimental for one-off weirdos.

I knew some guys that imported a compact grain harvester from somewhere in China back like 15 years ago and, despite being crazy people, they did a bunch of custom work on it because they felt like it was gonna pull off somebody's arm, as shipped. like just welding/fastening more covering stuff on which, farm equipment is generally terrifying and dangerous, no shade. and hell, they probably do that in China, but left it off to save weight. and I fully expect China to be the global leader soon for smaller scale ag equipment, if not already... but the import-distribution relationships are not there yet like they are with Italy.
