Awesome game. Sadly the 3d space battles don't work with Wine/Proton. That bug has been open for 17 years. I even was the last person to comment on it.

I used to play this on Windows back in the day. Would it work okay in a VM?

Maybe a Win98 VM. It's a pretty light game.

If you can live without the space battles Wine or Proton will work as well.

Yeah but that is something he does with proton-ge adds in tweaks that valve or wine can't fix like wmv play back etc.

I had a friend that played this obsessively back in the day. He'd always play as the empire, and his strategy was to find Thrawn ASAP and then wipe the board using Thrawn's strategic buffs. Or at least that's how I remember it

I've got Prime from work so I think I'll grab this, thanks for the post OP :-)
